Who was the best Seattle singer?

  • Cornell (by a longshot) > Vedder > Staley/Cantrell

I'd say it's up for grabs after that. Based on what I've heard #4 would be Lannegan but I haven't listened to much of him or Screaming Trees sadly (yet).

edit: If anyone puts some shmuck like Cobain ahead of Cornell they need to seriously hang themselves... or listen to TOTD and Soundgarden, whichever you consider less painful. It's one thing not to care for a singer or band but Cornell is fucking unbelievable. Recognize the talent.

Based purely on technical ability, Cornell in his prime was easily the best. The notes he could hit, and the power he put into them was astounding. Anything else is purely subjective.

    Vedder and Cornell.

My favorite Vedder vocals will always be on Release and Hunger Strike. Ed is especially fucking powerful on the latter.

Technically, like how? Cornell had far greater range and power than any of those singers.

And don't forget versatility. Dude can scream you into oblivion or turn around and sing the most mellow beautiful song you've ever heard. Example: Singles soundtrack. Birth Ritual and Seasons.

Christopher. Hands down. Always has been in my opinion.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

ya chris is probably the best, but my personal favourite is kurt. Ofcourse we are talking about most of my favourite singers of all time, so i'd take any of them at any time of the day.

just having a vast range does not mean you are a good technical singer...there's a lot more that goes into it than that

that said, I do think Cornell is amazing as a rock vocalist

of the Seattle bands, my personal favorite is Vedder

Like what else? like I said, tone and anything else is purely subjective. We already know Cornell had the best power and range, and like somebody else said, he was incredibly versitile i.e. Seasons and Birth Ritual.

but the question is who is the best, not who your favourite is.

Cornell is the worst because he is not my favorite. So there. :0/
