It was the last one of his six solo albums that I bought; since it was all covers, it didn't entise me as much. HOWEVER, once I heard the album I was pretty amazed at his take on those covers. His vocals on songs like Consider Me, On Jesus' Program, and Shiloh Town are some of his best, IMO.Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0

I fell apart when I saw him do Carry Home on the Isobel tour. I can't wait for the new solo album...I mean...the other stuff is great an' all but it's just been too long0

lucky bastards, i'm so jealous...hopefully there will be some bootlegs of this tour.“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

What are the chances Mark and Greg play some US dates? I know they've said there will be no more dates announced but one can dream right?? I would be willing to fly anywhere in the US for a show.0

My tickets arrived for the London show in January....this is gonna be good.
I really hope they play some dates in the US, they do seem a bit neglectful of the US fans. I've managed 8 shows in the last 2 years alone, I must have done something pretty good in a past life!!!!!!0 -

sgossard3 wrote:i say start with bubblegum... his work with QOTSA is his dark side, gutter twins his folksy/dark side, soulsavers his gospel side, screaming trees his upbeat, straight rock side, and the rest of his solo stuff is pretty mellow acoustic stuff... bubblegum has a great balance and some nice cameos from friends
everything the man touches is gold! a true artist!
the order IMO is:
-bubblegum
-soulsavers
-sweet oblivion
-adorata
I picked up Bubblegum and Soulsavers over the weekend. I also obtained a copy of Chinese Democracy. I was more emotionally moved/connected in the first minue of Soulsavers than I was on the entire new GNR. Mark is indeed the man.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Agreed. It's funny how much I love gospel music when I couldn't be more anti-religious.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Totally agree. I'm not particularly religious myself but Lanegan can sing some gospel songs, no doubt. Revival, On Jesus' Program, Peace In The Valley (Screaming Trees); it's all golden.
I would absolutely love to hear him sing Amazing Grace. I've always felt that to be a very powerful song; whether you're religious or not.0 -
