Mark Lanegan(the guy that you all seem to like)

I hear quite a bit about this guy on this board, so I assume he's worth checking out. Anyone have any suggestions for some good songs to start out with?

Gutter Twins- Anything
Soulsavers- It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land
Queens Of The Stone Age- God In The Radio, Hanging Tree, In The Fade... a few others too
For something quite different check out his albums with Isobel Campbell, especially Sunday At Devil Dirt.
Lanegan is AMAZING.

i sign this it was in my mind too!!!
I really don't want to exaggerate here, but this is honestly true. Everything this man touches turns to gold. He hasn't made one stinker album in over 20 years. That's fuckin' saying something.
My advice, I got started on Lanegan through the Screaming Trees with Sweet Oblivion, very accessible album and a classic. After I got hooked on all the Trees stuff, I ventured to his solo work and collabos. Start with Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, a real masterpiece IMO. Many of his songs take a few listens before they really hit you.
That would be my suggestion too. Whiskey For The Holy Ghost is my favorite Lanegan album.

new to lanegan? do you have Mad Season? or Songs for the Deaf from the Queens of the Stone age? if not, than you should get those albums. sure he is only on a few songs on those albums, but they are classics anyways!
aaaaaaaaaand go
I remember reading that there is a new Soulsavers on the way as well.
And an EP of material recorded with Isobel Campbell that didn't make it onto Sunday at Devil Dirt. http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/7199958/Keep-Me-In-Mind-Sweetheart-EP/Product.html Thats the one.:D
Like sheep's wool?
Also, Lanegan has to be one of the most hardworking men in music, ive seen him live 4 times this year alone...playing on my doorstep.
Yeah, he really is. Not sure why he doesn't have a place over here yet.
I thought seeing him and Isobel at Union Chapel would be the final time for awhile, but then something even better is annouced for January. Then the Soulsavers should be gearing up to support their new album with a tour soon after.
