  • Hi all, I am the OP's brother who gave him this guitar.

After reading the replies it is now my gut feeling that this item is not genuine as I do not believe so many could get it wrong. I have plenty of experience in listening to the band but unfortunately none whatsoever in collecting signed memorabilia.

For that reason I done some lengthy searching prior to purchasing this item and although I realised that there is always a risk associated with this type of purchase I purchased it through what I believed to be a fairly reputable online store.

    http://www.autographsamerica.com/?gclid=CMblgI-wgJUCFRlPEAodbzkoqwore

To say I am gutted for my brother is the ultimate understatement but the feeling of injustice is now far outweighing the feeling of denial.

I paid around $600 for this item which was originally $1200 and I now am seeking any advice available.

Does anyone know of this dealer?
Does anyone know how I can prove the item not to be genuine?
Does anyone know of any good dealers in these items to enable me to get him a replacement?

well, at least it says on the site that if you can prove it's a fake you get all your money back, including postage. :)

tough call, paul, but i am more inclined to believe this one is real. just certain characteristics of the four main sigs that appear to be in line with others i've seen. that ed signature looks like his scrawl from the mid 90's. the fifth auto is matt's, i'm guessing? looks as though it was signed in a hurry while walking through an airport or something, though. i'd hate to declare it real definitively, but like i said, i'm more inclined to believe this one is real compared to the blue one...

to the OP's brother. if you need to prove it's not real to get your money back, have it authenticated by psa/dna. it's not cheap, but you'll know for sure.

interesting item, as these signatures were likely obtained in the early 90's (if all were obtained at the same time, of course) as that's Dave Krusen's signature on the guitar. these signatures are legitimate, in my opinion.

thanks, they are coming from a very very legit souce on the face of it, so i would doubt it would be a fake, yet anything is possible these days so i thought I'd check with you guys

This store has John lennon signed stuff, some signed Bob Marley drums.....but my god they are super pricey for the plainly obvious reasons

good call on that fifth signature! if that's the case, i'm even more convinced because that places ed's signature in the correct chronological context....

paul - looks pretty good to me, and it looks like a Dave Krusen signature to be honest

the ev sig looks like a 1992 signature that I have, looks exact although I couldn't vouche for the authenticity of it...bought the 1992 xmas single on ebay years and years ago for about $15 on ebay, and for whatever reason the signature was on the back of it

what's amazing is that Dave Krusen's signature hasn't changed in the slightest in nearly 20 years! for those interested, run a search for a thread by LukinFan with "Kings Royal" as the subject topic and you will come across a couple of links Roger provided to scans of a Kings Royal CD that Dave personally signed to him recently,...

    that's really funny.

I did the same exact thing with DK, with the same single! And then I worked on the rest of the guys from there.

Got DK in 97/98 (on his picture), Jeff in 1999 with 3 Fish (on his picture), Stone in 2001 with Brad (on the cd), Eddie in 2006 after a PJ show (on the cd), Stone again in 2006 (on his picture this time)...and then finally, about 10-11 years after the first signature, outside of the beacon theater...I finally met mike and got him to sign both his picture and the cd! haha
