After reading the replies it is now my gut feeling that this item is not genuine as I do not believe so many could get it wrong. I have plenty of experience in listening to the band but unfortunately none whatsoever in collecting signed memorabilia.
For that reason I done some lengthy searching prior to purchasing this item and although I realised that there is always a risk associated with this type of purchase I purchased it through what I believed to be a fairly reputable online store.

To say I am gutted for my brother is the ultimate understatement but the feeling of injustice is now far outweighing the feeling of denial.
I paid around $600 for this item which was originally $1200 and I now am seeking any advice available.
Does anyone know of this dealer?
Does anyone know how I can prove the item not to be genuine?
Does anyone know of any good dealers in these items to enable me to get him a replacement?

Some information for you veddersman on this seller. This person is a long time forger of autographs. In the past he sold on ebay under the name backstagefun as well as another one. He usually sold guitars and vinyl lps signed in various color paint pens. He is a known criminal as well known for ripping off the band cheap trick and then fleeing the country. See http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080107/NEWS01/713609311 for the story on that. Sorry to hear you got ripped off by him. I know people that have been trying to get this guy arrested and charged for this for some time but no one seems to care or do anything about it.0 -

Hi again guys, well it has finally been confirmed by the 10c that the guitar is indeed a fake.
They sent the pics out to two crew members who are autograph experts, and they confirmed it pretty quickly.
I am pretty disappointed about the guitar, but am way more upset about the way my brother is feeling at the moment. He put weeks of effort into this and thought he had found the ultimate gift, and that means more to me than the actual guitar.
Cheers Bro......0 -

As with anything, its the thought that counts more than the item itself, it was a wonderful gesture on your brother's part.OH: You need to stop buying Pearl Jam stuff, we have no room
