What a great band back in the day. I've been listening to Core and Purple tonight and these albums sound as good now as they did back then.
Army Ants is a kick ass tune, BTW.

Good band, although IMO not as good as the most of the other 'grunge' bands of the 90's.It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0

One of the best 90's bands, everything but their last album was qualityAlpine Valley 2000

STP was/is great. i think pj, sg, and aic are at a whole other level though. in the same token, STP easily is better than nirvana. great band.

2008: MSG 1, Hartford, Mansfield 2, Ed Solo NYC 1
2009: London (O2), Philly 1, 2, 3, & 4
2010: Hartford, Boston, MSG 1 & 2
2011: Ed Solo Hartford
2012: Philly (MIA Fest)

i love STP but in a completely different way than most...see, I can hardly stand Core,(to me that was when the label of "grunge rip off/wannabes" was quite appropriate for them) but I absolutely love everything from Purple to Shangri La. In fact, I think their last one is one of their better ones.I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

Great band...both on record and live. I was lucky enough to see them twice. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0

Core is as similar to Ten as Ride The Lightning is to the Bangles greatest Hits.0 -

I agree I think Core is a bore!! ZING, ok I didn't mean that but it's true, aside from the singles and a few other songs it's just meh, the next three records are pretty good but I find along with AIC they haven't aged well I used to love them off when they were around, I still think whichever Deleo plays bass is awesome though"I'm not suicidal, except when I drink. That's why we don't all drink at the same time, there'd be no-one alive to drive home..."

Yep, Core sounds extremely dated to me...nothing timeless about it at all. Purple was a bit of a step up, but not much. Tiny Music and on is where they shine for me. I think STP got better as they got older and developed a more unique style.0 -
Still love them. Wish Scott Weiland would turn his back to Velvet whatever and join the others for som new output.0

Exactly my point...the songwriting became so much better but Weiland also really came into his own as a vocalist and frontman..instead of just another low voiced grunge singer he started singing in that more middle of the road, raspier voice...it all fit together perfectly after a while and the music got much more interestingI've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

SLDD is actually my favourite STP album. Coma, Wonderful, Hello It's Late and Too Cool Queenie are just quality songs.Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0

yeah its funny when people follow the hype behind the label that album got... they were playing these songs in San Diego clubs in 1989... hmmm who was living in San Diego at this time and perhaps maybe even caught a show? LOL
if anything eddie could have been influenced by Wieland!
anyways... the Core album is amazing... the guitar is very different and jazz influenced than PJ... Definitely one of my top albums ever
Purple and Tiny Music are also really great... No. 4 is pretty good.. the last like most I didn't care for as much
They still would put on a killer live show.. really hope they get back together some day!09/04/05 - Calgary, AB
