I though shang-ri-la whatever was a piece of shit, the one before that was shitty too. Core,Purple & Tiny Music were all quite good, I listened to them a lot at the time.

I remember sayin in 2001 when they came to Worcester, MA, ehhh, I'll catch em the next time they roll around. Bad mistake. I never saw em live.

And they dont have a live album, that sucks, I always wanted a STP live album.

Do some searching, some boots are quite easy to find.

I would add "Crackerman" to this list. :)

I would not go that far......almost comparing apples to oranges......seeing one in concert was as good as seeing the other.

Got a chance to see them at Cobo Arena back in '94 (Woodstock weekend actually) with Meat Puppets opening...a very good show.

They came out and played a straight up rock show for about 45 minutes and then set up an "unplugged" set and played a few more slower ones before rocking out for the encore.

Thats the way I always felt about them live when compared to Pearl Jam. It is like apples and oranges, so you really cannot compare. Both experiences are (were in STPs case) tremendous in their own right. Whoever's show I had seen most recently became my favorite band of the two. I caught STP 10 times and have seen Pearl Jam more than that, so there was a lot of flip-flopping...

I really don't think Velvet Revolver is going to last much longer.

Their 2nd album is weak compared to the 1st

I don't think there's a whole lot more that they can do, and an STP re-union would be great

    I hope they re-form, personally
    I'll keep taking punches
    Untill their will grows tired

i love STP but in a completely different way than most...see, I can hardly stand Core,(to me that was when the label of "grunge rip off/wannabes" was quite appropriate for them) but I absolutely love everything from Purple to Shangri La. In fact, I think their last one is one of their better ones.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I'm so happy to see some people agreeing with me this time around...in the other STP threads i was all alone!
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

  • I was blown away by "Purple". What an album! I don't think Pearl Jam ever managed to come close to that one, except for "Yield" perhaps.

Still love them. Wish Scott Weiland would turn his back to Velvet whatever and join the others for som new output.
I just read the interview with Scott in the new Blender. He said he is open to a reunion, but he just doesn't have the time right now. He is working on another solo album, not to mention all the Velvet Revolver stuff. He also mentions that he has made ammends with the STP boys, and would like to do another album with them.

I'm sure it's online, but I read it in the Blender Mag. with Kelly Clarkson on the cover. It was about a 3 page article. Good read BTW.
