Yup, Shangri is a solid album, one of my favorites from STP.

If you haven't already you should check out "12 Bar Blues"...Scott's solo album...some really unique music that exemplifies how good a musician he really is.

Bought it the first day it came out. Very good album

Where's your man is one my personal favorites from it

yes, I heard that too, which is why I thought it was funny when Army of Anyone was playing it live...

Yeah I read about that while watching that Comcast Music Choice channel, funny thing is I've never heard it live.

@Topic: STP does indeed kick ass. I've only listened to Core and Purple, but they're great albums, full of infectious tracks such as "Vasoline", "Wicked Garden", the (IMO) Soundgarden-esque "Big Empty", and "Sex Type Thing".

Love 90% of STP tunes, but there are a couple that I always hated:

Big Empty and Days of the week - very , very annoying.

Much like Mary, Mary on the new VR album.

see now those last two i think are quite catchy

i do agree with you on big empty though. very "eh" song
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

Speaking of "Big Empty", anybody seen that TV Spot for The Crow (1994) ?

Yes! Super excited for this. No. 4 is their only album I don't have on vinyl.

I was fortunate enough to see STP with Scott several times between 1995 and 2010. Saw them with RHCP and Fishbone on the No. 4 tour and it was awesome. They were at their peak of excellence around that time as a live band, IMO.

    Shangri La Dee Da too

Hesitant to pull the trigger as I was really hoping for a No 4 deluxe for the anniversary. There's some cool bonus tracks to choose from and that Vegas live show (or whatever they've got for that tour) could have been great.

    I am wired and fading...

Saw STP last night at Deer Creek. They did the entire Purple album. The sound wasn't the best but they were great.

Awesome! I haven't seen them with Jeff yet. Pretty much always on board with the DeLeo bros and Kretz.

As much as I miss STP with Scott, I'm glad that the other members continue to share their music with the world. They are all badasses at what they do.

We had a great time at this show. We were down in the pit and I got to shake Jeff's hand when he came into the crowd during Vasoline.
Also got a pick from Robert!!!

Jeff does a great job as a frontman.

Nice! Love that album. That one and Core that were released on colored vinyl a few years ago to Wal-Mart (and maybe some other large retailers) sound pretty horrible to me. My copy of Core is pretty unlistenable and Purple isn't much better.

I bought the Tiny Music box set and those records sound fantastic! I know they are capable of doing justice to those albums on vinyl but they missed the mark on my copies.

  • They did Core as an analog productions reissue as well. 45 rpm. Atlantic 75th anniversary reissues. That one sounds amazing. I expect Purple to sound amazing as well.
