Most musically talented band ever = RUSH

Love em, hate em, it really doesnt matter. On a purely technical aspect of playing instruments, writing lyrics and music, RUSH is above all others.

Peart: The best Drummer ever, even better than Rich. Lyrics are outstanding and intellectual. He is simply an amazing talent.

Lee: One of, if not the best Bass player ever. Great Keyboard ability. I like his voice also, some may not. Great music writer.

Lifeson: A great guitar player. Often under the radar, but he can play with the best of them. Great music writer.

Lets hear it!!!

    rush is a great band

but I think you need to listen to some who records

    alex cant touch pete
    geddy cant touch entwistle
peart, well, he is one of the best drummers and lyricists ever to take the stage, and moon was pretty damn good

edit: I think zep is also more talented than rush
  • Primus has more talent than Rush imo...there are others too. Pantera, Radiohead, Tool, etc.
  • More my money The Band, as someone else suggested, is the most-talented and versatile group of musicians ever to grace the same stage together.

I've heard people say the same thing about Rush before, but I don't see it. I suppose thoes guys are highly talented, but in my mind great talent doesn't always produce great music. Rush may be the ultimate conglomerate of talent ever assembled, who's to say, but their music has never come close to striking any kind of nerve in me at all.

Saturnal's opinion about Primus^^^ fall into that same category.....Les and the rest may be great musicians but their music just doesn't do it for me
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

The Who and Zep are up there no doubt.

Radiohead, Primus, Tool. Not even close. I really love Primus and Tool though. Les claypool is one hell of a bass player. Danny Cary is one of the best drummers, but not the best.

I understand this is just speculation and opinion, but does any one really think radiohead is in the top 10.

Tecnicaly speaking Rush and Dream Theater are on top. the creative, prog, time changes between songs it's what makes them great.

Bands members of led zepp, the who they all are great musicians but the type of music the play doesn't allow them to make some kind of things. it's something that progressive rock have over straight forward rock.

    hard to say
radiohead is more the sum of its parts-although the lead guitarist and the bassist are incredibly talented

but probably in the top ten, yes

Just don't bring up Geddy's vocals.

Every time I've seen Rush, they have absolutely kicked ass!! :D

  • :D dragonforce :D

the band, zeppelin, the who... definitely
radiohead is just perfect at what theyre doing... i dont think technically speaking they are each individually the best in music

always a pretty meaningless conversation though... some might say umphreys mcgee has the most musical talent... alot of those jam bands do... they just create pointless generic crap with that talent

  • Slipknot... I mean, they're all so good at playing instruments, and making new ones... like banging on kegs! Who else does that? Fucking geniuses....

I would put each of Rush's band members against their Who counterparts ANY day.

haha... completely agree. I don't care what anyone says, Phish is the most musically talented band out there. I'm pretty sure Alex Lifeson doesn't have a PhD in guitar.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

1982 was my first RUSH concert also. I was 10 years old and it started my love for RUSH. Entwistle and Townsend are great, but I think Lee is a little better than John, plus Lee is great on the keyboard.

    Townsend is better than Lifeson.

YES was also a great band with Anderson, Bruford and Howe.

I guess when you reach that level of playing its a style preference

People need to stop confusing technical ability with talent.

If we're talking technical skills there are plenty of jazz, etc players who coupld mop the floor with these guys. If we're talking sloppy emotion these guys don't come close. Maybe cheesy emotion and a dated style of playing.

I've tried several times but these dudes are lame
