I've recently decided I really really need some blind melon. I'm only 16 so I wasn't really around when they were and I only heard No Rain recently and its become one of my favourite songs, it put me in such a good mood when I was feeling crappy. What albums would you recommend to get 1st, I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying them all?

I was lucky enough to have seen them 4 times, there was nobody like them live. My favorite songs were 'Time' and 'Tones of Home', and they used to end the shows with 'Time' - which if you know the song is the ultimate closer. Just kind of fades away on you into the night...God I miss them. What a fun band.
I love to turn you on

Go in order...I like Soup better, but if you listen to the first one first, you can appreicate the evolution in sound.

they're all worth having. dont buy the greatest hits, cos it'll be a waste of your money when you end up with all the albums anyway. other than that, their self-titled and soup can probly be found cheap at most used cd shops, so i suggest grabbing one or both there.

I love Blind Melon. Some of my favorite Melon tunes are Toes Across the Floor, Galaxie, Time, and Deserted. The Live at the Metro DVD is great. Wish I could have seen them live in person.

Soup is phenomenal. One of the best albums EVER! My favorite songs are Galaxy, Walk, Saint Andrew's Fall, Vernie, and Mouthful of Cavities. The whole album rules...Not one bad second on that album. I have it on vinyl too. And if your cd player is capable, there is a hidden track BEFORE Galaxy. Now that's a hidden track. It is the vocals to New Life played backwards over an acoustic jam. Way cool!
  • What's weird about "Soup" is that I read some terrible reviews about it when it released and I actually bought it to hear how crappy it was. First time I spun it I was blown away by how great it was. Still one of my top 10 fav albums.

The luv for Blind Melon on this board never ceases to amaze me.
  • I have ALWAYS loved this band. From the minute I first heard them. So lucky I got to see them 3 times in concert.
    miss them very much......

I'm looking forward for their "live" album !!

Blind melon was a great band.. and still is !

  • for a band to release an album full of songs which didnt make albums and just some random ideas and for that album to be equal to the quality of other albums that takes a special band.
Blind Melon managed that with Nico (as did pearl jam with lost dogs) and they were a very very special band

  • i think mr vedder would absolutly nail toes across the floor.....i reckon thats one of the few blind melon songs anyone could imitate and it would still be as good as the original.......i think vedder is the perfect man for the job

i think the band could nail it.. but that might be a bit out of range for Ed...

    maybe not..

Blind Melon is some great music. I personally like the first album better than Soup and Nico, but I think it's cuz I've listened to it much more. I do love Skinned from Soup though.

I'm sure you guys know that Shannon sang backing vocals for GNR Don't Cry. He was in the video too. The band even thanks Shannon and Blind Melon in the liner notes for UYI 1/2. Don't think they (Blind Melon) were even signed to a major at the time. Kinda cool.

Anyway, Shannon will be missed. I feel bad for his wife and kid. So sad. Drugs suck.

Wasn't Shannon Axl's cousin? I think I read that somewhere.
