Soup is phenomenal. One of the best albums EVER! My favorite songs are Galaxy, Walk, Saint Andrew's Fall, Vernie, and Mouthful of Cavities. The whole album rules...Not one bad second on that album. I have it on vinyl too. And if your cd player is capable, there is a hidden track BEFORE Galaxy. Now that's a hidden track. It is the vocals to New Life played backwards over an acoustic jam. Way cool!
  • What's weird about "Soup" is that I read some terrible reviews about it when it released and I actually bought it to hear how crappy it was. First time I spun it I was blown away by how great it was. Still one of my top 10 fav albums.

The luv for Blind Melon on this board never ceases to amaze me.
  • I have ALWAYS loved this band. From the minute I first heard them. So lucky I got to see them 3 times in concert.
    miss them very much......

I still really enjoy the 3 albums that they gave us (if you count nico)...
I'm looking forward for their "live" album !!

Blind melon was a great band.. and still is !

  • for a band to release an album full of songs which didnt make albums and just some random ideas and for that album to be equal to the quality of other albums that takes a special band.
Blind Melon managed that with Nico (as did pearl jam with lost dogs) and they were a very very special band
i know someday you'l have a beautiful life i know you'l be a star in somebody elses sky but why??
  • where...name sum songs???
    i've heard at least 3 or 4 ..

    frosting a cake

  • i think mr vedder would absolutly nail toes across the floor.....i reckon thats one of the few blind melon songs anyone could imitate and it would still be as good as the original.......i think vedder is the perfect man for the job

i think the band could nail it.. but that might be a bit out of range for Ed...

    maybe not..

Blind Melon is some great music. I personally like the first album better than Soup and Nico, but I think it's cuz I've listened to it much more. I do love Skinned from Soup though.

I'm sure you guys know that Shannon sang backing vocals for GNR Don't Cry. He was in the video too. The band even thanks Shannon and Blind Melon in the liner notes for UYI 1/2. Don't think they (Blind Melon) were even signed to a major at the time. Kinda cool.

Anyway, Shannon will be missed. I feel bad for his wife and kid. So sad. Drugs suck.

Wasn't Shannon Axl's cousin? I think I read that somewhere.

i thought i was on my own with the pearl jam and blind melon worshipping but it appears not reading in the porch how many people want to hear a blind melon cover it appears we are in our plenty...
so here is a thread to see just how many of us there are,,,

You are not alone... I LOVE both Pearl Jam and Blind Melon and nothing would make me happier than to see them cover a Blind Melon song, that would be so awesome!!

Shannon was a great musician and it was sad to see him go that way. RIP

I attend his vigils whenever I have the chance... he make mistakes in life hence he is no longer with us but his music still lives among us.

No they werent, they were both from Indiana and he met Axl when he moved to LA and Axl gave him a hand to get started and that's when he ended up in the Dont Cry video ...

I love Shannon on that video ...

Watched the VH1 behind the music on Blind Melon on Wednesday and got all chocked up watching it. I love Letters from a Porcupine. I got to see them a week before he died. Their music helped change my life for the better as does Pearl Jam's I will be at the Vegas Show and the two Gorge shows screaming my lungs out for them to cover a Blind Melon song, maybe Eddie could throw in a tag of Lemonade at the end of Betterman, too much too much too much lemonade! Rarities I have found are Brittle little baby, No bidness, 60 Medley, Frosting a cake, Wooh G.O.D., untitled in C, Ever had the feeling, and I love the song they did for the Zepplin Tribute Out on the Tiles. And of course three is the magic number is just great. Glad I can still see Pearl Jam, miss the hell out of seeing Blind Melon, Drugs do suck!

Let it start playing then hold down your rewind button for about two and a half minutes...to -2:24 or some such.

I miss this band very much so.... I wish I could have heard them live. Oh well this is why people need to stay away from drugs.

    RIP Shannon.
    RIP Tender Trio

You say that, but the music wouldn't have been as good. Most great music is written on drugs -> The Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Sublime, Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, etc.
