I don't latch onto many bands...Pearl Jam, Drive-By Truckers and Blind Melon are the exceptions.

    Great music...great songwriting.

A great loss when Shannon left. Not just because he was a great singer/songwriter, but because he left behind wife & a child, a talented band and a promising future.

  • there were three in the family.
  • one of my favorites for sure. I still have to buy those live DVDs..
-one thing to remember, always have a good time, all the time
  • Love this band! Just too bad we won't get any new music from them. Letters from the Porcupine is one of the best music dvd's I've seen.

I miss this band very much so.... I wish I could have heard them live. Oh well this is why people need to stay away from drugs.

    RIP Shannon.

Love their stuff. Lucky enough to have seen them twice in 1994. Toes Across the Floor is my favorite track

Ever see the video for that? It was included in on the CD-ROM for the Nico CD.

Some nice extra footage on there.

You know, when I got Nico back when it came out I did not have a PC yet, and since then I never even thought that it had a cd rom. I will have to check it out. Thanks.

Some cool interviews...backstage footage...plus, some strange Shannon interviews.

Blind Melon is some great music. I personally like the first album better than Soup and Nico, but I think it's cuz I've listened to it much more. I do love Skinned from Soup though.

I'm sure you guys know that Shannon sang backing vocals for GNR Don't Cry. He was in the video too. The band even thanks Shannon and Blind Melon in the liner notes for UYI 1/2. Don't think they (Blind Melon) were even signed to a major at the time. Kinda cool.

Anyway, Shannon will be missed. I feel bad for his wife and kid. So sad. Drugs suck.

Absolutely love this band. I still listen to their music like it was just released yesterday. I really miss them.
E agora? Faz xixi na mão e deita fora!
  • They are definately up there at the top of my list.
  • Blind Melon will always be my favorite band...No musician will ever touch me the way Shannon did. I will never forget the day we lost him, nor will I ever forget what they gave me & continue to give me through their timeless music.

...While they are sadly underrated, the awesome thing about their fans is that we are hardcore, loyal fans who know, & will always appreciate, exactly what we were given & unfortunately lost.

Shannon also joined GNR a couple times to sing Don't Cry in concert, first time 5-16-91 in NYC, I think no one in the crowd even knew who he was at the time.

Very well said. I'm putting on Nico right now to enjoy a bit of what they gave us.

Just noticed that the first page of this board had a lot of good bands being represented so I just thought Blind Melon should be there too. Watching Letters from a Porcupine right now. Really, really miss this band! Wish I could have seen them live just once. Stood outside of a show back in December '93 trying to get in but it was sold out to the rafters. Froze my ass off just trying to hear one song everytime the door would open but no luck.

I've recently decided I really really need some blind melon. I'm only 16 so I wasn't really around when they were and I only heard No Rain recently and its become one of my favourite songs, it put me in such a good mood when I was feeling crappy. What albums would you recommend to get 1st, I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying them all?

I was lucky enough to have seen them 4 times, there was nobody like them live. My favorite songs were 'Time' and 'Tones of Home', and they used to end the shows with 'Time' - which if you know the song is the ultimate closer. Just kind of fades away on you into the night...God I miss them. What a fun band.
I love to turn you on

Go in order...I like Soup better, but if you listen to the first one first, you can appreicate the evolution in sound.

they're all worth having. dont buy the greatest hits, cos it'll be a waste of your money when you end up with all the albums anyway. other than that, their self-titled and soup can probly be found cheap at most used cd shops, so i suggest grabbing one or both there.

I love Blind Melon. Some of my favorite Melon tunes are Toes Across the Floor, Galaxie, Time, and Deserted. The Live at the Metro DVD is great. Wish I could have seen them live in person.
