I'm obviously late to this party too, but I just need to clarify that you are all a bunch of pansies. Well, most of you. Bats... sheesh. Oh no!

These wimps can get back to me when they've had a grizzly bear right outside their tent in the middle of the night...

Don't think I haven't tried. Well, the pics exist but she won't let me submit them with the aritcles. I tell her it would make my writing a lot more popular, and that she too would benefit when the riches roll in, but she still refuses.

Well last week. The bat returned. Went to bed and as I was trying fall asleep I hear the cats "banging" on one of the doors. So got up and *boom* there was the bat in my apt. Cats went crazy trying to get. Here's a short clip:

one time i remodeled and lived in this attic apartment in a really large old house. it was infested with bats.
it was also haunted by @ least one or more women. many times the activities in that place startled me. bats even worked their way downstairs. all year 'round bats; iowa, -13 below zero, bats are dancing in my living room or behind the walls.

had to be to work early every morning. 4am im up getting ready for work, shower, having cereal and toast before out the door. bats... they like to do laps up and down my hallway, through living room and back around sometimes resting on drapes, window air conditioners, or just hang out on the wall.

some morning while waking up i'd open my bedroom door to greet my winged friends, invite them into my bedroom for ceiling fan tight circles with wing tips that flirt with fan blades and sometimes slap it to fling away like the little masters of flight that they are

    mice with wings.

im still trying to figure out how the ate insects while in winter months.
i suppose they weren't super active; a docile frozen bat community.

Bats are harmless and, contrary to what most people think, they are not major rabies carriers (minimal risks, really). Bats indoors where humans live are a fluke/accident. Only a few species 'circle'. If it's not their 'way' it means they may be disorientated and, as someone said, the 'swooping' is not for attacking a human but to feed off flying insects.

Also, as mentioned, a good number of species are protected. In the UK, they all are and it's an offense to kill one.

(Both my daughter and I are involved in bat conservation! Love those lil' critters!)
