Really??? I was unaware that I am treated horribly. Funny how people say F Wal-mart, yet know nothing about them other than what they have "heard" from others. Rather than take the time to investigate or research, they speak rumors and nonsense.
haha... I didn't want to be the one to ask him about "the way they treat their employees". Glad an employee was able to shed some real light.
btw - I shop at Walmart. Never used to, but they're close to us, so... its next to a Target. I don't see the difference buying from one big-box versus another big-box. As far as Wally affecting small-towns, that does suck. Our area though easily accommodates Wally, Tar-shey, Big K ...and multiples all within an 8 mile radius.
...however, if you don't like something, vote with your dollars! whether pro-wally, anti-wally, or whatnot.

People talk about how Wal-Mart uses Chinese slave labor, got news for ya... so does Target, Bed Bath Beyond, and ANY other retailer you can think of. Oh yeah, including your local grocery store. I suggest if you want to start buying American products, you look in the mirror and start your own business selling such things.
What's interesting is that Wal-Mart is actually leading the industry in cleaning up China and raising the standards for the people that work in the factories. They are working hard to reduce the amount of packaging and waste they use and are moving to highly sustainable stores.
You can say what you will about the company, but understand the facts before spreading what you "heard".
How is that health insurance policy that Walmart provides for you? I figured I'd ask you since all I've "heard" is that it's non-existant unless you are a corporate suit.
My Health insurance isn't AWESOME, but I pay $12 a paycheck and my 80/20 deductible is $1000 and my unlimited is $2000 deductible. However, I have the option to pay more per paycheck and get better insurance, but I am a healthy young adult and don't need that.
Again, what you "hear" on the news is usually a single event that happend and they want to jump on it because it is an easy target.
Look, I am not defending Wal-Mart on the Green Day thing, I am just saying it (Wal-Mart) isn't as bad as people try to make it. The company really does strive to make the world a cleaner place, by the changes they are making and when Wal-Mart makes a change, it changes the industry.Straight down the center for a hot chicken dinner!0 -

True Wal-Mart story - A few years ago my uncle is in there (they were new to our area then) sees a pair of Remington hip waders (for fishing). Great price and they look just like the waders of Remington past so he picks up a pair. Flyfishing season comes, he gets his new waders out, gets in the water and gets soaked. WTF? Brings them back to Wal-Mart, who tell him it's not their problem, it's Remington's.
My uncle is a VP at a large apparel company so he calls what is his counterpart at Remington after surfing the web and getting to their Corporate HQ. Explains the waders failing, how he's owned Remington waders for YEARS without fail and how Wal-Mart told him to bugger off, they got their sale. His counterpart went on to explain that because of the prices Wal-Mart DEMANDS of their suppliers, these waders were, indeed, inferior to any pair he might purchase from a sporting specialty shop.
Wal-Mart summarily lowered the quality of goods purchased in this country and spawned the myth that owning 10 of a crappy thing is somehow better than owning 1 quality thing. Personally, I would not run into a Wal-Mart to escape a sarin gas attack no matter how cheap and plentiful their gas masks are.Why go home?0 -

Why is it ok for Remington to produce a crappy product but not ok for WalMart to sell them? How is it Walmart's fault?
Much like it's on Green Day to decide whether or not to censor it, it's on Remington to not produce crap.
How long did your uncle have them before trying to take them back? For some stuff they have a limited window for return. If there's one thing I've never heard people complain about at WalMart, it's their return policy. They will take just about anything back, receipt or not.0 -

The waders were used in a timely manner, though I can't remember exactly how long. Since my uncle works in the apparel industry he's well versed in return policies and service standards. He's a very mellow guy so for him to be annoyed enough to chase the issue all the way to Remington's Corp HQ surprised me.
EDIT: I think you have the return policies of Wal-Mart and Nordstom confused. Maybe it's just the stories I've heard vs. others' experiences, but returning things at Wal-Mart is no picnic. Why go home?0 -
Eh, it'll definetly be sold at Target...I am right by your side...0

Still doesnt negate the fact that Walmart is still just selling it. There are plenty of companies out there that don't cheapen their standards just so WM will sell it and WM isn't making them make crappy products.
What is a timely manner? I know you can't return most electronics to WM after 15 days. I'm sure there's similar policies for other products.
I don't even know what a Nordtrom's is. I used to work at WM and virtually everything was approved for return, receipt or not. We had people bring their old shoes back to trade them for new ones, repeatedly. This varies a bit from store to store and depending on the managers mood, of course.0 -

You're right. I have never, ever been turned away when trying to return something to Wal-Mart. Even stuff I know for a fact I didn't get there.
The only limitation I've come across is they will only allow three returns per person without a receipt within 90 days. If I have to go over that, I'll have to let my wife do the returning for me.
This has come up a lot recently, because we began buying diapers for our baby almost literally the day we found out we were pregnant. We didn't care about sizes. Now, we have a bunch of diapers our baby has grown out of. We're STILL exchanging diapers from 18 months ago to get the appropriate sizes. No questions asked.
There are a lot of reasons to bitch about Wal-Mart (I guess). Their return policy certainly isn't one of them.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0
