So I'm making a Pearl Jam compilation CD for a friend...

So I have a friend who has basically only heard Vitalogy and only really knows the song Corduroy. So I told her I'd make her a CD with some Pearl Jam songs. So this is what I've come up with:

Small town
Given to Fly
Do the Evolution
Drifting
Present Tense
Wash
Black
Light Years
Leash
Yellow Ledbetter
SOLAT
Soon Forget
Life Wasted
Gone
Thumbing my Way
Last Kiss (I know it's kinda a really over played song but I think it has a lot of appeal)

Breakerfall
Marker in the Sand
Wishlist
Hail Hail

Anything I missed that should put on there? I'm not even sure if I can fit all those songs on 1 CD if not which ones should I cut? Anyway thanks in advance for the suggestions!

    Interesting choice with Drifting. It's a great song, but I don't know how it would do on a cd just introducing the band to somebody. If it was me, I would put Sad on there. That's one of their best songs in my opinion. I might also pull out breakerfall and replace it with insignificance, just to keep up with the binaural song. Otherwise, great list!

    I would take out Drifting, Wash, Breakerfall, and Soon Forget and replace with

    I Got Shit
    Smile

    maybe You Are for some variety. All or None sure makes a nice closing track, too...can't you just make it a quadruple disc?

    i think All Or None is a must have on any PJ mixtape, switch it in for Thumbing (personally, that song bores me and newbies ive played it to, to tears)

    If you are hoping to convert someone to a fan, you can not miss off Alive, yeah its overplayed and all that and not a song I reach to play very often but to the casual fan its a must, as are Jeremy and Even Flow and definitely Porch. A new fan wouldnt be so bothered about Wash, sopon forget, thumbing my way, and hail hail but your other choices are stellar.

    I would certainly consider adding animal, Go and RVM from Vs, and from the look of your list your friend isnt the fan of the hard rockers as you have selected many a slow burner so definitely add Comeback too

    I would just go with your list. You put those songs on there for a reason. Probably the same reason for all the other sugestions, you/they like them.

    Replacing breakerfall with insignificance might actually be a really good idea.

    As for the other suggestions I think I really should put Porch on there. I was debating it but if I can fit it on there I'm definitely gonna add In my Tree and Porch. Thanks guys!

    Just did this for my gf and just went with the main hits.

    Once I have her drawn in to the pj world I will start adding their lesser known but better IMO stuff.

    It's so hard to come up with a good compliation cd because you have so many songs you want to put on it. I made one for my sister-in-law to prep her for the upcoming Ed show. I tried to put some of the "lighter" songs to give her an idea about Eddie so its not really just a PJ cd.

    im meeting one of my best friends that i haven't seen in years. we group in detroit listening to hip hop and then after highschool he moved to texas to produce hip hop and i moved here to florida and found pj..
    anyways we're meeting at acl and he asked for a cd to get him ready for pj so im referencing this thread.
    i was gonna make a cd with all lps and another with most of the same song's live version.
    hope it sinks in on time :)
