Media which use PJ's music

What media have you heard PJ's music in?

I listen to Opie & Anthony on XM often and they often have PJ when they come back from commercial. Just now SOLAT, and other times Animal and other good choices. I also remember about 2 years ago NASCAR had something off of Avocado in the background - I think it was WWS looping without the words.

What have you heard, and where? ...and not just songs played in full length on the radio. Talk shows, tv shows, etc.

I listen to sports talk radio WEEI out of Boston and one of the hosts of the Dale & Holley show from 10-2, Michael Holley, is a huge Pearl Jam fan. His producer James is also a big PJ fan as well so coming back from break they always play Pearl Jam. They also talk sometimes about them on the air. They did a fantasy football league at the radio station last year and the producer James' team name was "The Brain of James". I listen more to that show now even though it my least favorite out of the morning, mid-day & the drive home shows.

  • i was listening to the 90's station on my XM and they were promoting the summer of grunge and they had a snippet of i think once, to be honest i don't remember...also i was listening to that station waiting for PJ to come on (i had just recently gotten 90 days free with the new car we got and had yet to hear PJ) so that "what if god was one of us" song comes on so i change it to the classic rock station and Neil Young's Southern Man comes on so i listen to all of that, then when that was over i changed it back to the 90's station and i hear the tail end of Alive..it was frustrating, but then again the ending to Alive is the best part of the song (YEAH...YEAH...YEAH...YEAH) but still the first PJ song i hear on XM and it's the tail end of a commonly played radio song...sort of disappointing

There's a setting on my old cheap XM unit that you can program it to "beep" when an artist of interest comes on another station. I bought it used, and every 30 or 40 minutes it would beep, and show me "Justin Timberlake Ch 210" or whatever. If you ignore the beep, you'll just keep listening to what you already are listening to. If you hit a button, it moves you over to the other artist. I was able to reset it so I didn't get annoyed at the other person's presets, but I haven't plugged in my own yet.

what's funny is here in philly, there is a local AM talk station that is 99% right wing when talking politics and every once in a while, they use PJ music to intro back from a commercial break.

  • This has to do more w/ television media but I was watching "Around the Horn" on Espn 2 weeks ago and the host shouted "It's Evolution Baby" then went on to say "Do the Evolution from Pearl Jam." Heard them numerous times on Sportscenter, the Jim Rome Show (radio and TV), the Ben Maller Show (am radio), Flashforward on NBC recently, but my favorite was a couple of years ago, Fox was interviewing Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora and asked him a bunch of questions including something like "Classical music or Rock N Roll?" and he goes "Rock N Roll baby, Pearl Jam." loved it

Their use or Colin Hay doing an accoustic of Men At Work Overkill was priceless.

Or this, but i now risk straying way too far from the topic...

    So let's get back to EV/PJ ...

And then there was to Prostate cancer commercial with Rise.

Let's not forget Yellow Ledbetter on the Friends finale.

Also, Rise was played on the Deadliest Catch promos earlier this year, I'm pretty sure.

Definitely heard PJ played over arena PA systems during various NHL games the past year or two.

And they were playing "Amongst the Waves" at the grocery store a few wks ago. :)

  • On the Boston sportsradio show Felger and Maz in the afternoons they play the intro to Glorified G coming back from a commercial break. I almost always hear it as it is right when I get out of work.
For every tool they lend us, a loss of independence
  • Dan Patrick used to play a lot on his old ESPN radio show. Not sure if h does on the new show. i watch on DirectTv, never listen. funny that Opie & Anthony use them. Whenever I heard them talk about PJ, it was in a very derogatory way. They were not fans. But I haven't listened to the show in years

They seem to like them to some degree, but anytime someone named "Jeremy" calls, they always do a quick "JRRR-EMY".

They often use PJ's music in the intro too. A rotation of maybe 4 or 5 songs, but maybe that's their producer's call.
