What Would You Do If You Won The Lottery?

An age-old question

I bought a mega-millions ticket today, which I very rarely do. It always gets me thinking what I would do if I won the lottery.

Say it was $40 million in cash after taxes.

    40 million?
    where to even begin?
that is WAY more $$$ than anyone ever needs, period.
5 million would suit me fine. then i could QUIT MY JOB.......turn our home into exactly the dream home we always envisioned, travel, travel, travel.......enjoy life.....share with family.....give genrously to charity with regularity, probably do some volunteer work regularly.........yea. i think the 'problem' is many when envisioning the big lotto win, they want that celebrity lifestyle, and thus, need more and more $$$. i would just my life, sans *having* to work and not having to worry about $$$ to meet our basic needs, and the things we like to do. i think living well but still living small = happiness.

First of all, I'd stop working, then I'd buy a flat (house ?) in London and in NYC, and I'd travel a lot.

Become a philantropist, then move to Palm Beach Florida, buy two yachts to teach poor kids how to sail the oceans and ALL the treasures of the seas.

Mostly Stay Human and give more to others than think of myself. Oh I'd continue to work just two days a week though.

First, I would pay off my debt. Then I would set aside money for my 3 daughters to go to school with. Then I would get pregnant. Then I would buy property. I would buy enough property that my kids could each build their own home when they grow up if they so choose. Then I would buy a private jet and travel. Then, when the new baby is about 7, I'd build my catamaran and travel some more. By then I'll be 40, so maybe time for one more kid, maybe not.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

I have a rather large family, I'd like to win enough to take care of them for life.

My other half's a writer too (not been picked up yet, although was a finalist in a Channel 4 comedy writing competition - but that's another story) so would love to get one of his series produced as he's not the type to push himself or 'network'!!

Then maybe enough left over to see every PJ gig from then on.

Would love the luxury of flying in first class at least once too, a bed on a plane - who woulda thunk it??

I think I'd buy a condo or loft in Detroit
Get a season ticket package to the Tiger and Red Wings
Buy a house up in the mountains, maybe in Silverton or Telluride
    Travel alot
Make sure my family's taken care of
Start giving to every charity I can think of

It would really depend on how much I won, but if it was a lot I would:

    1) pay up all my bills
    2) pay off the house
    3) buy a really nice car
    4) help my family with their financial crises
    5) move far away from where I'm living now :D:mrgreen:

    Wish you were here...

I would cut back on the amount of classes I teach for my aerobic program and build a nice little stand alone fitness center instead of having to rent out of a mall. I like what I do, but I teach way too many classes and I'm frequently on the verge of burnout, but in order to remain profitable and generate a paycheck in this work its necessary to run/teach a lot of classes.

Probably also go back to school and finish my M.S. in Math (already got one in Comp-Sci), and then maybe work toward a Ph.D. in Math or Comp-Sci just for the joy of it.

Maybe get a bigger house with more than one bathroom. Some newer used cars. My kids could go to college wherever they wanted.

Go to whatever shows I wanted, whenever, wherever.
