I am currently developing a Pearl Jam iPhone app...it should be ready in time for the tour. I have contacted 10C about whether it is ok, and the possibility of using some of the artwork that the band uses...they never responded.
My app will allow you to track the concerts you've been to, and see stats based on your shows. You will also be able to browse all the setlists, songs, lyrics, etc. that you find here. Most importantly, this app will be FREE.
Some optional features that I'm thinking of:
- The app will also allow you to track your poster collection, and you will be able to view the poster for any given show when you are looking at its setlist. (This one is optional contingent on PJ allowing me to use the images)
- Looking at the design at the top of the thread, I loved the idea of the app tracking your membership expiration date, and giving you a warning that it is time to renew.
- a seat tracker, so you can enter your seat location when you say you've been to a show. That way you can kind of track where your 10C seats are at your shows. Maybe this isn't so cool, cause who forgets where they sat?
- setlist database and stats will include EV solo shows and the Beacon, with an option to view stats without the EV songs included.
Please let me know what other options you might want! It'll have to be relatively simple...This isn't going to be an app that is completely plugged in to this website for uploading photos or posting to the board, for instance. That would take me way too long to write, and I'm not even sure I have the ability.

As a pretty recent iPhone user, I can't tell people how cool and limitless the possibilities of making these apps is. There's no doubt in my mind that this could be a huge success.

as long as the song was on your phone and labeled correctly, that would be pretty easy to accomplish.
Right now I will at least have it play whatever Pearl Jam songs you have on your iPhone as background music while you use the app, with an option to turn that feature off.
I wouldn't be able to include Pearl Jam songs with the app, like NIN has done, because of copyright issues...

getting Apple to approve it will be the hardest part of the process, I'm anticipating.
How hard would it be to create a mobile phone friendly website?
no harder than doing the app, but to do it appropriately you would need to be able to test it on many different kinds of phones extensively to provide the best user experience, which can take a substantial amount of time. I do wish pearljam.com were more mobile friendly...I hate accessing the forum through my iPhone...it's very slow and I keep getting signed out.
The iPhone is a developer's dream, though...they have a lot of stuff built in that makes it very easy to quickly make simple and powerful apps. It is much more fun to program than web stuff, IMO.

i thought the same thing a few days ago about an iphone app. maybe therre'd be an official pearl jam relayer to have the setlist of the show that day. also have clips like spin did.

Relaying the setlist is definitely something that could be accomplished and is a great idea...I'll add that to my list.
clips would be tricky for me to do, because of copyright issues. Especially video clips, since we aren't allowed to video the shows according to the rules.
