Help authenticating a Pearl Jam sig
Hey all,
Won an awesome Vintage Eddie Vedder sig today on eBay.
It seems to have been signed on 9/26/92 in Honolulu at Andrew's Amphitheater or on 9/27/92 in Maui at the War Memorial Gymnasium.
Totally psyched.
The 9/27/92 show was the last official stop on the Ten Tour.
Any stories about the show.... etc. would be cool to hear.

Yeah.... his early sig was some serious chicken scratch.
the trademark "sideways Ed" is always fun to see back from that era - looks good!

I'm around 99.9% certain that this one is good. But it is always great to have other people ring in.
Thanks 100Pacer. Means a lot to have your opinion.
Everything about this one matches up as far as I can tell. And I don't get paid, but consider myself an expert, on identifying fakes in the Baseball autograph world. I've been doing my research and after 2 years of study I feel pretty good about my ability to authenticate Pearl Jam autos, as well now.
If I find a Pearl Jam autograph that I'm interested in buying I'll be sure to run it by you first!

Cool. Be happy to take a look.
Thanks! had put in $100.00 was totally psyched with $61.00 after shipping.
we can never be 100% sure, but if thats a fake they have sure gone a long way to elaborate on it!!
on the item in question, i see the "ed", and the top of the d goes on to encircle it. then, the v and looks like it's pretty long on that first stroke, more measured on the second to include the accompanying squiggle. the other writing sells it for me as well. pretty hard to dupe that P jam and hawaii. i have ho idea what the big wave/fist thing is, but overall i have to say real.
ebay isn't evil people are

Again with the weird swirl thing?
Yeah. For sure. Just fun to talk about as I nervously wait for it to arrive.
P.S. Thanks for the input. Appreciate it.

This is an old thread, but wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts about the authenticity of this item.
As I stated it is 99.9% real in my opinion, and I consider myself an expert of sorts.
4 of the most respected 'autograph minds' who post on here gave it a thumbs up.
Just would love to hear any additional thoughts if they are to be had.
Thanks,
Nate
EDIT: Just an FYI, months after I bought it I pulled it out and the original ticket stub flopped out. It is fucking sweet. A really nice stub from 1992 Hawaii show. I'll post it when I get home and take a picture.
I spoke to one of my guys who has been in the Autograph industry for over 20 years about the sig, and he said the Sig looked good- A lot of signs matched up- Seems like you scored! I shared my concerns and I think your doing the right thing by getting opinions from various informed people. If the majority of informed people agree, then it should be legit! You have 5 different people agreeing, that's close to 100 years of experience supporting the signature.
take care,

Thanks Tonifig8,
I got nervous when you rang in with your concern. Like I said unless you witness it, then there is always some doubt.
I definitely feel great about this one, and the words from your friend make me even happier.
I think I just need to adjust my thoughts on value. Obviously I have been colored by some of the prices I've witnessed, but for sure the value of these old and rare items are far higher when given a proper audience.
eBay is not necessarily a good barometer of what actual value might be, so our discussions have been a huge eye opener as I learn more and more each day about Pearl Jam sigs vintage and otherwise.
The most important thing when it comes down to these signatures is the provenance, and weather it's credible. I personally cannot view a signature and just come to a conclusion on the spot with out any details. The authenticity is a collaboration of the provenance, the signature itself, and "who/why/where" it's being sold.
Until now, I had never seen an original Ed vedder sell for anything less then $100 - new or older! I take it that you were at the right place, at the right time, and the right situation to win this piece. Because if there had been some other informed people out there watching that auction, trust me they would have dropped a few bids in there! That's why most auctions never start so low, because you never know when old school PJ fans are on vacation - as a seller, if you don't have the right crowd your going to get killed on value!
that's a classic ed sig right there.....
I'm still convinced on it
