...with or without harmonica?

I don't have anything against the harmonica but i think it takes something away from the song and it's just not the same IMO.

what do you think?

No, I didn't know that, but I don't listen to the studio stuff so there's a lot I don't know about a lot.
I do, however, know that I love the harmonica.

DEFINITELY the harmonica . . . I love when Ed throws in other unusual instruments (the uk, tamborines, etc), but the harmonica is my fav. He plays it so well, so why not let him show off his other talents?? :D:D

Love the creativity of PJ, with or without harmonica, whatever the moment brings. Have to say though, I enjoy the harmonica in Footsteps!
Well, if the moment calls for cow bells, bring them on! :D

By the way, this made me think of something....anybody that's ever been down to Key West may have stumbled upon a bar on Duval St. called Irish Kevin's - there's a guitar/singer in there named Jared Michael Hopgood - the guy plays a great show (and is funny as hell) - anyway, much to my surprise he covered Footsteps last year when I saw him down there - and he made the comment that "nobody knows how good that song is"...I told him I totally agreed!

I like the harmonica, but I'm too used to the original. Every time I hear the version with harmonica it jumps out at me like something is not right.

I don't see how a harmonica can take away from a song about death row. I think it definitely adds to the ambience. Nearly jizzed my pants when Ed first started using it.
