It's not thaaaat shitty. Lots of young artists live in that area (amongst the dwindling number of friendly crackheads). There are plenty of excellent vintage clothing and book shops around there as well as a record store or two.
I lived in that area for 3 years just on the edge of parkdale and compared to where the other hotels are located it is shitty. You are correct about the vintage clothing and book shops though.
Agreed, definitely shitty relative to where the other hotels are... buy they don't have the Easy Rider diner.0 -
This is very true. great spot for breakfast.Mississauga, Ontario, Canada0

Lots of trees and parkland around. You can walk a lakeside paved trail from the venue to downtown I think. A long walk but I'm sure it would go quickly as you decompress from the show.
this seems to me like a heavy fan club show
PJ could do 5 nights in a row at the ACC in Toronto at 20,000 fans/ night no problem.
this is a hot ticket
when you are downtown - try to find even one piece of garbage on the ground
it's incredible
Check out Toronto Island as well - I quick ferry ride and a cool place to run around
the day of the '03 Amphitheatre show, early in the afternoon before soundcheck Ed left the venue on his bike with the intention of cycling that very same lakeside bike route. Ed spotted a couple of fans hanging around outside the venue, and asked them how to get to said bike route, but as it turned out these fans were either drunk/stoned out of their minds so not only didn't they realize it was Ed but they also gave him shitty directions because they told Ed to follow the road out of the venue and look for signs that read "Gardiner". for those not familiar with Toronto, the "Gardiner" is an Expressway which runs along the venue. Ed took the fans' advice, only to return 10 minutes later somewhat disappointed to say, and this is a direct quote "that was not the way, was it?!" lol. needless to say, Ed was later given correct directions and he peddled up and down that bike route,...To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. Something Ive been thinking about;
The concert is on the first day of the CNE, right across the street. Is the 11pm curfew extended for the midway? I havent been to the EX in years, but something tells me that the noise curfew is extended for that area of town during the CNE.
Anyone know for sure? This sidewalk is for regular walking, not for fancy walking!0 -

the 11pm curfew relates to a noise by-law in place, and as such is never extended,...To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

So....if one were travelling to Toronto for the show and only had time to stop at one or two bookstores....which are the best to shop at?0 -

I like She Said Boom because they have a great selection of used books AND vinyl. There's one on Roncesvalles relatively close to the venue and one on College.

Thank you!! Looks like a great place.0 -
I met Ed after that show, we hung out with about 10 other fans for just over an hour. I will never forget the conversations we had that night."it feels like it's the end of the world and we all got a good seat. you know -- step right up, get your tickets...here we go."

My buddy and I were in the parking lot having some beers an hour after the show ended and we spotted Ed driving around on his bike with Pete following behind.
He pulled up beside this guy to bum a smoke so we walked over and started a conversation. It was fucked, i held his bike at one point in the conversation as he skipped into the bushes to take a leak."it feels like it's the end of the world and we all got a good seat. you know -- step right up, get your tickets...here we go."
