This makes me really happy! Mainly because I am a Giants fan and the Dodgers are screwed without him. I think the Dodgers should get to keep 1/3 of his 20 million, or better yet they should keep all of it.
I for one am never surprised whenever someone else gets caught. But I'll wait to see the details before further comment. For all we know this could be something similar to the case of J.C. Romero. That being said, while Romero's intentions may not have been to cheat and he was misled - these guys have to know what they are putting in their bodies and that falls on major league baseball and specifically the player's association to offer better information on the use on this stuff.

This sucks for the dodgers. If i'm a team i think you have to stop sweeping this under the rug (like we all know they all did before) and address this. You can't sign someone to hit in the heart of yoru order only to have him disapear for 50 games because of a suspension.
I thought manny migth have been clean. I thought he was one of the best right handed hitters the game had seen, but i guess it is time to stop being naive about any one.

He isn't being paid for the games he's suspended, so the Dodgers should be keeping around a third of it.
Well, it looks more like a mistake because of a faulty medication than steroids, but unfortunately his name will be grouped with everyone else now:
The commissioner's office didn't announce the specific violation by Ramirez, but in a statement Thursday provided by Major League Baseball, Ramirez attributed the violation to medication he had been prescribed by a doctor.
"Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me," Ramirez said. "Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now.
"I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons. I want to apologize to [Dodgers owner Frank] McCourt, Mrs. McCourt, [manager Joe] Torre, my teammates, the Dodger organization, and to the Dodger fans. LA is a special place to me and I know everybody is disappointed. So am I. I'm sorry about this whole situation."
After consultation with the Players' Association and his personal representatives, Ramirez waived his right to challenge the suspension. He will lose about one-third of his $25 million salary.

So you believe Manny??? That it was given to him by a doctor?
Or do you believe(like I do) that Manny is another lying cheating piece of shit steroid freak who has been juicing for years???
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
I don't wish any ill on the Dodgers, always a classy organization. But the fact that Manny is making less now than he would have with his Red Sox option makes me .

That's definitely something the Players' Union is going to have into more extensively, especially with young Latin players, whose command of English is not good and could misunderstand what a doctor gives them. They also have to work with major league baseball to come up with a definitive list of what's banned and what's allowed.
Of course I'm commenting on the basis that this is true, but who really knows.

I kinda give the benefit of the doubt to Manny on this one until we find out what MLB reports he tested positive for.
1.) He's goofy and erratic and kind of dumb. You have to be extremely regimented to be on cycles to do steroids. Look at the people who have been caught: Clemens, Bonds, A Rod - all workout freaks and none you would consider "goofy" like Manny.
2.) The picture from the SI Red Sox 2004 Collector's edition showed Manny shirtless playing cards in the clubhouse and let's just say he was very pudgy in that picture and looked more like a softball player than one of the greatest hitters who ever played.
3.) He had never been rumored to be on the juice unlike Ortiz and other than a comment by Jose Canseco - no one had ever even speculated he might have taken them.
He failed the drug test but it doesn't have to be steroids as the culprit. There are many banned substances on the list and not all of them are juice. I'm not saying that he didn't do 'Roids, I'm just saying until what it was that he was doing comes out he can't be lunped into the "juice" category.
By the way, I've always thought Manny was a douche.
You think the doctor has any responsibilty here? He is prescribing it and HAS to know that there is that danger for manny? I find it hard to beleive that he would/could/should take ANYTHING prior to having it checked out by the mlb or the players association for that matter, whether it be vitamin c or a freaking aspirin!!. I just dont see how this happens. Not sticking up for Manny in any way shape or form, just wondering if the doctor should have some sort knowledge of this shit.
My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-12

Not a steroid and prescribed by a doctor.
Roger Clemens wants to keep his. Is that ok?
Some might.
If you haven't noticed every single team has someone who has been linked to steroids.
I already posted - at least he didn't test positive in a Red Sox uniform.
