I've gone with friends, but had to sit separately from them - kinda the same... but it's still a good time! :)

I went to the Beacon in New York City last summer by myself. I drove down from Mass to southwest CT and took a train into the city, then the subway to the show. It was pretty intimidating. Luckily I ended up seeing people I knew after I got down there. I was set to go to Toronto by myself too, but I think I am getting a ride from somebody on this board. It should be fun. Its obviously more fun to go with people or make friends from here and meet them at the show. :D

I have been to uite a few concerts by myself. To be honest, I prefer it at times. I can walk at my leisure, get a beer without asking, etc.

I find I am more apt to meet more people, as they are more apt to say hi to someone who is alone. It gives you the freedom to not feel guilty about asking someone else for anything or wanting to do something that others might not want to.

    Enjoy the show(s)!

To be honest, these days I go to more gigs alone than I do with friends. Started out with bands I really wanted to see but no one else knew, but now I buy tickets for myself without even thinking about if a friend would want to go.

It's really not that bad. The break between bands can sometimes be a little awkward, but usually you can strike up conversation or just zone out. Socialising helps if you talk to people in the queue though, people are much more approachable in a queue than once you're instead and the music is too loud in the breaks is a bit too loud just to introduce yourself to a stranger.

Yeah, much better to go alone than not at all. And Pearl Jam's is a particular friendly fan base to blend into.

as of right now I'm going to both Toronto and Chicago alone...it'll be more fun if I can convince one of my friends to make the trip, but I don't think that's likely...otherwise I'll just hit up the pre-parties and have a good time...

you should definitely go anyway...worst case scenario - you're bored until the show starts...once the action begins, though, it's fun no matter what.

Me too, plus a couple other small shows by myself. Even when I go with someone, I kind of feel like a concert is an individual experience - for me anyway, I just get lost in it, and don't much care who's around me.

    gone to many shows alone.
great thing about it is 99% of the people are fans of the same band you are, so you have something to break the ice right off the bat. also freedom to move about is a positive.

only negative is the drive home in my opinion.

    hope you go, have fun.

Due to moving around the country a few times, I have on a number of occasions gone to shows alone. The Jamily is a great group of open and inclusive peeps, you will have no problem finding some friends. :P

I've gone to several PJ shows alone. Its not a big deal, I usually just grab some beers and end up meeting people during the downtime. And, then once the show gets going, all I care about is what's going on on the stage.

Unless I'm bringing my wife to a show, I find it easier anyway. My friends are barely casual fans of PJ, so when I've brought them in the past I've felt obligated to make sure they're having a good time.

I have been to a few PJ shows alone and it has paid off! At Camden 1 in 2003 I was sitting alone in my seat and a nice woman came up to me and asked if I was alone and if I would like to upgrade my seat. So I went from sitting on the very far right and back about 25 rows to center about 6 rows back in front of Mike! And during the show Mike came down to the side and I was able to sneak up into the front row for the last song! It was awesome!

i've went to a couple of shows alone due to a cancellation by a friend, no big deal, met some new people outside venue, and gave my ten club ticket away to a fan who didnt have as good of seats as I did.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

I enjoy going to concerts alone sometimes. I find i connect with the band and the music more.. It's more of a one-on-one experience for me. When you're alone, you don't have to talk to anybody during the show :) I find that a plus, especially if it's one of your favorite bands. When I'm alone its easier for me to become absorbed into the music..

    :D

I go to a lot of concerts by myself. In fact I'm going to see the tragically hip this friday by myself. It's not bad at all really. Except for the waiting period before the band comes out when you don't have anyone to really talk to to kill time. Basically most of my friends either aren't really that into music or listen to stuff I can't stand. But I like going to concerts so I go by myself most of the time. The only time I went to a concert by myself and didn't really have a good time was when I went to see STP at Jones Beach but that's another story :p

I always found it weird that some people actually don't go to shows just because they don't have anybody to go with. If I like a band enough that I want to see them live, I don't care if anybody's coming with me to the show. Over the years, I travelled all around by myself to see Pearl Jam and got to meet some of the coolest folks. I'd say you step out on your porch and explore :)
It will be great, I promise!
