Did you ask for 3 or 4 stars? Others have said they got the Delta Chelsea for around $50 when entering 3 stars...

    I put 4 star

All those hotels are very nice... but these bastids jack up the price 4x during the Toronto Film Festival, and that's why I've never been able to stay there during the festival.

I don't know if I'll go to the Toronto show, pearljim's wife may not go, so...

    BeerBarron:

Do you know if the Westin is convenient to the subway/street car public transportation?

    Thanks!

Do you know what type of room your getting? How does that work with priceline...is it 2 beds or 1 king?
  • skere26skere26 Posts: 305
Everytime I got a room through priceline, the desk attendant always asked me what bed setup I would like upon check in.

Got the same hotel same rate yesterday...searching for 4 star.

FYI this is a pretty good forum where people post what they got on Priceline. Gives you a great idea on what you should be bidding...

the 509 streetcar goes right to the amphitheatre/ontario place and it's basically right at your door

Great. Thanks for your input. It sounds like this would be a convenient place to stay.

np ... it depends on what you want to do in the city ... it's located at the ferry docks - so, you can head over to the islands and chill out there ... most of the shops/theatre district and stuff is about a 30 miin walk because of the highway being between you and the main part of the city ...

doh! jumped the gun and messed up my priceline bid. $70 for the Sheraton, probably coulda got $60.

I think if you do $55 or $60 you'll get a good one for sure (as the OP did).

There's 12 zones and only 3 have 4 star, so you should be able to lowball and get free rebids if you expand your zones to include the original (zone 3) and other non-4-star zones.

To those who have booked the Westin Harbour Castle for $55...did you bid for a four star in the downtown zone for $55?

    Thanks!

I guarantee you that it won't be your last.

The only caution I have for people using Priceline is this: If you are travelling in a group of > 2 people all wanting to share ONE room, you could run in to trouble. If the hotel is busy the day you have booked, you may arrive there to be told that all that is available is a room with a King bed and 3-4 people will have to figure out a way to share one king bed. I have run in to that problem in the past, but generally it is not an issue.

If you are traveling with just one person, or if you get multiple rooms such that it is only 2 people to a room, Priceline is definitely the way to go.

Only real downside is that you pre-pay, so you can't cancel.

That is the one thing holding me back from using priceline...im going with 3 other people so i really need to get 2 beds...ive used it before for the hartford 08 show and it worked great but thier was only 2 of us...i dont know what to do.

So who is going to be the first one to push it and bid less than $55 for the night? I bet it could be had cheaper ...

Get a hotel downtown. You could get a streetcar to the molson ampetheatre, but take my advice and walk. Its really not that far, and it should be a beautifull summers eve. You can walk down to Queen's Quey, and walk along the lake, or walk along King or Queen and then south on Strachan. Any abled bodied person can do it, 30 to 40 minutes(20-25 minutes if your a speed walker like me).

And after the show, trafic and transit is going to be a huge clusterfuck being the first day of the CNE and all. After the show, walk up to Queen or King, and hit one of the bars, The Horseshoe is where ill be going.

Is the curfew extended down there because of the CNE? Im thinking that it is?
This sidewalk is for regular walking, not for fancy walking!

I actually tried $47 (someone got a 4* for that price a few weeks ago in Downtown TO), but not luck.
