    I'm 176^^^

I've been to 7 PJ shows and the closest I ever sat was row 12 at the gorge night 2... gorge night one I sat in row 20... vancouver bc i sat in row 20... seattle key arena 2002... row 22....in LA my seats weren't even on the floor for either show.....but those are all pretty decent seats so i wasn't too upset.

Are there that many members that even those of you with lower numbers can't get close? Or does TM get half of the first few rows? It seems to me you should have closer seats, but then as you said you did get decent seats. My number is 325xxx would that put me in the 40th row? Sheesh.

I think tm gets good tix at a lot of shows. In Denver 2006 I went with my mom who has a really really low number and we were in the front row in between Jeff and Mike. There were 2 guys a few seats down from us, center, in front of Ed and they said they bought their tix on tm at noon that day! For the second night we were in the second row in front of Stone and the couple next to us also bought their tix from tm that morning. :|
If I had known then what I know now...

Been a member since 1998 and have only been in the front row one time, Lubbock, TX in 2000. It was easily the best show i've seen them. We were right in front of Mike and he interacted with us a few times during the show. Nothing compares to being on the front lines. I wish they'd play there again just so I could get that close one more time.

Only going to west coast shows. When do I get my turn in the front row or even the first 5 rows? I've been to 15 Pearl Jam shows and haven't had my turn yet.
    depends on......................who you know.

The city and popularity of the show makes a huge difference. For example, my number is 132xxx. In 2003, I had front row in Little Rock, 6th row in Nashville, and 7th row in Atlanta. In Chicago 2006, I had row 20 center. Obviously you are gonna have better seats at shows with lower 10c attendance regardless of your member number.

The city makes a huge difference I think.

    So true.

I'm 369^^^ (I'm only 18, not my fault) and live on Cape Cod, meaning I go primarily to Boston/Mansfield shows. My number might as well be 500^^^ for those shows.

I went to the D.C show in '08 though, and instead of being preetttyy far back in the Tweeter Center, or 3 sections back on the side of the Fleetcenter, I had some pretty good seats not too far from Mike on the side.

I guess my number is worth more there.
And before his first step... He's off again...
  • never say never. i had front row in Reading PA in 04 when the fan club sold through ticketmaster. Just goes to show you I would smoke most of these fools in a street fight. Yeah--I said it.

    428,000 members = a lot of money.

    average fan club price = $22.50 (20 + 25)/2

    $22.50 X 428,000 = $9,630,000

I'm a 290XXX and yet I got centre row, 15 rows back in Melbourne (home city) and 7 rows back in the Gorge 2006. Just keep turning up. One of the best shows ever was Sydney - when they announced the show by the time I got thru I was going to be in the nose bleeds. The ticket operator advised me to wait a few minutes as they were sure to announce a second show. "Cool, " I replied "I'll get tickets for that as well. Just get me in the building the first night - I'm sure they'll play loud enough for me to hear."
So now I'm at the concert in the absolute last row on the left side of the stage. Before the concert starts, a couple of arena officials come up and ask us how many in our group. "Just the one" I put my hand up fast. They lead us down the stairs to a big row of (I'm guessing corporate?) empty seatss - 6 rows from the front on the side. The side the Band used to enter and exit. I was so close that when I flashed my boobs I got a head nod from Jeff and Stone. One of the greatest nights ever!!!!!
So don't despair - you will have a phenominal experience at a Pearl Jam show, it's just how fab they are.

Most of those people aren't still in the fan club. :) Your number never changes!
    Chicago '98 * East Lansing '98 * Indianapolis '00 * Detroit '00 * Cleveland '03 * Detroit (1st) '03 * Grand Rapids '04 * London (ON) '05 * Grand Rapids '06 * Chicago '09 * Chicago '13 * Chicago '16
  • ALSO!!!! Many people will reference the heyday of seeing Pearl Jam really really close in 1998 or 2000. I don't remember if it was 2003 or later that PJ instated the "get fan club tickets for as many shows as you want" rule, which made it much more difficult for you to get close, because as you will see on these boards, many fans will go to many shows on the tour.

I've been a member since the early 90's #103XXX and have never been behind the second row. But....my shows were in KC, Council Bluffs, Milwaukee. Not keeping my hopes very high for Chicago

You have to remember, a lot of members drop out and the numbers dont get moved up. Everyone keeps the same number, so that $$$$$ total is probably way off.

Every tour I am a little closer, its only fair to let the older members who have stayed around and have always remembered to renew get up close.

I get tickets through a few other bands fan clubs and Pearl Jam does it the best. They keep on top of it. We are all very lucky to have an awesome band who really cares.

I'm at 149xxx and been a member since 1996. I'm consistently in like row 8 for Detroit and Cleveland markets. I piggybacked off Hippiemom in 2003 for a Cleveland show (see signature line), and we were in front row.

I'm ok with my row, but I would welcome a lottery to get me even closer one day.

Yes, there are that many members.

My number is 187,xxx and I was far, far away in Hartford last June. I almost couldn't believe it but I was surrounded by similarly confused members with numbers like mine. The East Coast shows are like that. :?
Hartford was a little bit of a different animal though. That venue has a lot of "season ticket" subscribers, the front had 10 like every other row and season tix holders interspersed.
    This weekend we rock Portland

It all depends on where you are seeing shows. I was 248xxx for Little Rock 03 and had 6th row seats, I had 7th row in NC before....I get around 14-15 in Dallas usually.
  • The 2000 tour was great because of the one show per member rule (134XXX and had second row in Phoenix and I have never come close since- 2003 I had 8th row in phoenix, side in Vegas; 2006 had around 20th row for chicago shows). I don't think we should go back to one show limit, but I think what they should do is figure out a way for someone who is only seeing one show to get preference over someone who is seeing their 6th show of the tour.

I guess I have been generally turned off by the atmosphere at the last few shows when it comes to tenclub seating. I want to sit around people fired up for pearl jam, not a bunch of blue bloods who need or expect something more out of a show, looking for a particular song, or comparing shows while one is going on. I think if they were able to figure out a way to get a greater number of "fresh" members up close, the concerts would consistantly be better (I believe the crowd can affect those on stage).
