I think you said it perfectly... it's a priviledge, not a right... I am sure everyone will get tickets in one way or another! I think 20 bucks for the X-mas single and Deep and other stuff is pretty good. I dont think it says anywhere in the Ten Club that you are guaranteed priority seating... for any show. Its not as if the Ten Club had some evil plan to make their website crash, it happens on every website

I think you're missing the point. What you get for $20 is most certainly worth the money, but I would guess most people pay that money in order for the chance to get tickets....emphasis on chance. I know tickets were on sale a long time today, but if this was an NE show or gorge or seattle etc, it wouldn't have been that way is my guess. And if you didnt happen to be sitting by a computer when the announcement was made, you would've lost your CHANCE to get tickets. All people are saying is give a little notice. It evens the playing field and allows people time to plan. I don't care if you have Bill Gates money, it's tough to decide youre going to Chicago all the sudden on a random Monday. The website crashing sucks, but it is what it is. At least if you gave everybody 2 days notice, everybody would be dealing with the same problem and on even playing ground knowing that the site will probably crash. I knew the announcement was coming but I wasnt at a computer at the time nor could I decide I could go to Chicago in August in the course of 90 seconds.

I pretty sure the description of membership is something along the lines of will be given the opportunity to buy tickets when possible, you were given the opportunity..The site crashed becuase of us not them.. we all had to deal with the same situation it's not like anyone else had a bigger chance then the other..and if you want them to have a site that will with stand the demand just ask U2 fans who pay I think double then we do and there servers crash! so seriously people stop the fu_king whining..

I think you're missing the point as well. Nobody is really that pissed about the website crashing. It's the manner in which the tickets went on sale. Maybe you anticipated when they were going to put them up, but not many people have time to sit around and hit refresh all day in the goods section. If they would just say, "hey, tickets are on sale at some point on thursday" that would be be one thing and put everyone on an even playing field. Website crashes would happen to everyone. I think some are pissed because it was just very arbitrary when they went on sale. Give people 24-48 hours to figure out if they can make it....i.e. they are playing in Chicago and Toronto. These are the dates. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. I don't think that's really asking that much.

My personal gripe is only with the malfunctioning website ;)

If you got tickets (and they are still on sale), then why gripe? Isn't the whole point getting the tickets?

The gripe is with the performance of the site, I am not griping about tickets :?:

And, in the case of tickets, and websites, does TM's website ever crash when hundreds and hundreds of people are trying all at the same time to purchase?

    The answer is no...

    the answer is yes.

And they get sold out in minutes, and thats it.

That being said, i would also prefer if they made an announcement in advance about show dates, rather than say. "here, in the next 2 days, decide if you want this show."

I do see their side as well. There are still tickets available and people are bitching, which doesnt make any sense to some folks. What they're missing is that we just can't sit there waiting for an announcement all day. I'm from Atlanta, and if this was for Atlanta today, I would've missed the announcement because I have a job and I'm out of the office most of the day.....and I check the board 5+ times per day....also for a show like MSG, people are nervous that this is the approach that will be taken....me included. And if the site being down for 3 hours today was a pain, wait till they mention NYC in a tweet. The site will be down for 2 days. At least in that case, if 10c just said, hey, MSG tix will be on sale on X day at X time, everyone who wants tickets will have to deal with the same screwjob of the web going down. Even playing field.

I agree, I was just trying to find a happy medium. In a perfect world, they would say here are all the tour dates, tix on sale through 10c on May 31. Thats clearly not going to happen. Best we can hope for is a little notice. We get more notice about having our memberships up to date than buying the actual tickets, which seems kinda strange to me.

I didnt think I'd get so much of a response from everyone... I like to create discussion and I am sorry if any one thinks I was being arrogant or crass...

I think that in the spirit of Pearl Jam and this event, I want to plan a get-together for Pearl Jam fans which will take place prior to (and possibly after) the Pearl Jam show on August 23rd....

    So here it is:

My house in Willowbrook, Illinois. Kegs of beer, some food, some bags and a give-a-way from my personal poster collection. I am not looking to profit from this! I just want people to know that we are all Pearl Jam fans and can get together and have a good time.... What do you all think?

I live right at I-55 and Route 83 and we can caravan to the show. I'll post this separately as well!

Give me some feedback if you want to have a pre-gamer....

I am a little dissappointed in all the negative responses and posts regarding these new tour dates! I am not gonna bitch and moan (mostly becasue I got tickets..haha) but I even if I didnt get tix via the Ten Club, I would be happy just to go, even if I were sitting in the back row. If anyone really wants to go to these shows, they will find a way, maybe they just wont be sitting in the front row. If you are so pissed that you got "screwed by the Ten Club", then do the right thing and not renew your membership next time!!!!!! I belong to a few other fan clubs and they are not even close in the professionalism and customer service that Ten Club offers. The system which Ten Club uses is not perfect, but what WOULD BE PERFECT????????????????????? There's only so many rows and so many seats and so much a web site can handle at one time. I went to both shows in 06, once sitting in my Fan Club seats, once sitting in the WAY back! I had a great time in both sections. So just sit back, be happy, drink an effin beer and enjoy what everyone has come to love here....

Thank you and have a great year, see you at the U.C.

You are missing the point dude. People aren't complaining that much about whether or not they got tickets. It's more about the way they are releasing tickets, the performance of a website that is suppose to be able to handle people purchasing tickets, the way they are releasing dates in a manner where we have no idea if we should shell out the dough to go see them in a city far away or if they will be in our backyard 2 weeks later.

You can't make plans the way they are doing it, and that is really what sucks to me. I don't understand why some people can't comprehend that this is a shitty way of releasing show dates. So figure out what people are upset about before you start spouting off from your pedastool. seriously.[/quote]

U2 site crashed..Hell I've seen Ticketmaster crash as well..
so for the amount of money we pay..we shouldn't expect Ticketmaster response becuase I'm pretty sure our 20 or 25 dollars will not cover the cost of what it would take for the server not to crash...

I will however agree that they could give a day notice so people can see weather then need to login into the site at all...

other wise, good job tenclub and Ed, Stone, Jeff, Matt and Mike and Boom thanks for all you guys do for us!!!!!!!!!

The only problem with posting a thread like this is... well... people are gonna bitch at you for posting it! It's a never ending cycle: news -> happy threads/bitchy threads (depending on your point of view). If you're happy and post a "stop complaining" thread, the people that complain will also react to your happiness.

As much as it's really annoying to see a whole list of compaining threads, it's human nature to piss and moan when things don't go exactly the way you want them to. It would be a nice change if people just cut 10C and the band some slack, it's a lot better that they go out and play every year than just stay at home (remember when REM stopped touring?)

artillery crashes whenever there is a poster sale
because like the 10c, it is website run by a couple of people but serving thousands of fans

the 10C is not a huge conglomerate like TM, comparing the 10c servers to TM is just ridiculous.
This whole thing is nothing new, the website crashing, the sporadic dates
The only new thing is that the tickets are going onsale right away-and now we all know-when they tweet, get ready to buy tickets if the show is near you-and, the Chicago and Toronto tickets were available for a long time yesterday
yes the 10c could communicate more clearly, but they never have in the past and I don't expect them to anytime soon. Its just the way it is folks. You can critique the way things are done, but its most likely a waste of time and energy.
