  • Today’s haul for BCBS Day.

    Nice (and pricey) haul!

I got everything but Prop, since I’m in NY.
Yeah way too pricey, got out of hand.

Yeah it was a pricey lineup this year.  I guess they think they can charge so much when they put half the beers in fancy boxes.

Labeling/packaging definitely adds to the increased cost but I think it is the bourbon barrels they have to source now too.

Used barrels which were once readily available are now a hotter commodity and you tack on the bourbon hype that has swept through the last 10-15yrs; sourcing those Blanton’s, Elijah, Old Forester can’t be cheap.

Now people chase those bourbon brand names and Goose Island has to do the same.

Oh and the fact that idiots like me will pay for it.

Same.  I guess the 1 good thing about AB buying Goose is that they're able to do a lot more with BCBS...great barrels to age in and they seem to make more and more of it every year.  Other than that the rest of their beer has completely gone to shit.  312 and green line are pretty much undrinkable these days.

Sticking with my Binny's and Prop day allocations for now.  Also won the Maplewood BA raffle....Cuppa BA series is legit.
  • BCBS!  Bought the Cola, Cherrywood and regular.  I will pick up the Blantons bottle this Friday.  They have all the bottles except the Prop.  I'm passing on the others as they are just too damn much.

Couple of good ones. Delicious stout from Maplewood and a Bearded Iris DIPA. Two of my favorite breweries.

  • This is really tasty.

I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

I discovered some BCBS from 2017 stored upright.   Is that stuff still good?

Yes. Most should be good for at least 5 years. Enjoy!

Yes I’ve had them aged upwards of 8 years. They last a while.

Got a four pack of Heady Topper recently. Still overrated. Really solid fucking beer for sure. But just about anything I've head from Tree House is superior.

    Awesome.
So I rediscovered that I have a 17, 18, and 19 of the regular BCBS.   Picked up the Cola version this past Black Friday.  Looking forward to that one.

Agree but heady topper was out at least 4 years prior to treehouse and inspired many breweries.

Enjoying a tasty doppelbock. Such a good style of beer that has been an afterthought with the popularity of IPAs.

    Love Doppelbock. Looks delicious.
  • Any Untappd'ers?  I don't remember getting something like this in the past.  Mimicking Spotify?

Half Acre’s bourbon barrel aged stout, Benthic. Super good.  Brewed with coffee and coconut, but it’s not overpowering.

Say what now - what's there to care about? I've been grabbing their beer every other week.

I thought you swore them off after those sexual harassment allegations last spring?

Haha I did enjoy watching that dude get dragged for sure, but they ostensibly kicked him and his wife out and seems like the place has been trying to do a mea culpa ever since. So I still pick their stuff up along with a handful of others every couple of weeks.

Oldie but a goodie. I think this is the beer I think of when it comes to the holidays. Merry Christmas y'all.

Decided I'll be opening the BCBS Blanton's bottle on NYE.  The bag and cork make it feel so fancy when I'm sitting on my couch in sweatpants lol.

Anyone here also have a kegerator? If so what do you normally set the psi to? I realize it can vary depending on the kind of beer.

I just exchanged Co2 tank and had to replace my regulator. This new regulator is a lot more accurate but now I am getting a ton of foam. I used to have it set between 10-12. Now have it around 8 based on a recommendation from a buddy. But I seem to be getting a lot of foam no matter which psi level I settle on.

In this house we call it a beermeister. When I used to have one I'd be between 8 and 10, but it was all a matter of getting it dialed in since every keg will be different on arrival. But the biggest things I found to keep it smooth was to let the keg settle in the beermeister for the day before tapping it, and keeping your lines sanitized.

And always figure you'll have some kind of runoff.
