I'm sorry to hear about your cat :[
I had to put my dog down under a year ago and it still stings...they begin to become part of your family
I bet the cat had a long and happy life

Long? Not long enough. We all thought he'd live 15+ years.
Happy? Yes, until recently when this cruel illness got hold of him

it's absolutely one of THe toughest decisions to make and follow through.
    wish your family the best.

my kitty is going to be 20! this september.....thus far, sure...slowing down, bit more frail and hard of hearing...but she's pretty perky. i know this day will come for us someday soon too. so difficult, but the time you have them in your lives is worth it imo.

So sorry. :( I'm sure nobody could have loved your cat more than you did.

It's always so hard saying goodbye to our pets, especially when you have to make that decision for them. It was a decision you made out of love, the same way you cared for him his whole life.

Can't pass this thread without posting my condolances ... just hold onto the great times you had, keep thinking of what a fantastic life you gave him. It's rough, but, just remember, he loved you very much.

you have given the cat a good life. You were also allowed him to pass on so he didnt have to go through any more pain. Im sure it really hurts your soul, but you did the right thing, and you were the world to that cat.

My condolenses to the loss of your cat.

I adopted my sister Suzy's cat last year when Suzy passed away. I know I will be very hurt and sad when Krystal has to pass on too. She's only three right now, but, you never know.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

I refuse to get another cat. My cat died when he was 4 years old. Then I had a cat from 1992 to 2007 (I had to make the same decision). I know how you feel. They are so sweet.

My sister has had two dogs put to sleep for biting, her male cat suddenly became ill and within 2 days, he was put to sleep and her 18 year old cat was put to sleep. She keeps getting more pets.

    Take care.

I've read that the improved cat food makes them healthier and they live longer, but sadly they almost get the same symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

  • Oh i'm so sorry :(

Being a cat lover of many years, I sympathise so much. It's never an easy decision to make, especially as he has been in your life for so long :(

Try and remember the happy times, and remember that your cat passed knowing he was loved. When you feel up to it, look at photos with fondness and remember to laugh at the crazy things I'm sure he did. Memories count for so much... I know you'll never forget.

Knowing how you feel, there isn't much I can say that will make you feel a whole lot better. But just remember all the fun you had with your beloved cat. You definitely gave him/her a great life. Your cat will live on in your memory as strong as he/she did in your life.

    Once again, I'm sorry :(

My condolences, the Mrs wanted a cat, me not so much, so we go to the shelter, get a cat and her kitten, go for one and come home with two  they had the flu and then the kitten got an infected eye, fourt trip to the vet and we were told best thing was to put her to sleep, only had her a week and a half, surprised how much i miss her already, let alone loosing your cat after 11 plus years.

I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts terribly - especially when they are younger. I had to put my favorite kitty to sleep at age 9, and a dog at age 3. Both form cancer. The bastard cat that hates me and bites me if I touch him is 13 and will probably live to be 30. Only the good die young.

    My deepest sympathies. Time heals.
