I cant even Imagine what was going through the minds of all the people that saw a commercial jet and a fighter jet flying so low in Manhattan. Oh shit here we go again  I bet some heads are going to roll over this one.

I think that is certain...the guy who has been apologizing in the press will probably get the axe soon.

why the FUCK does air force one need to be photographed flying around new york?

and what brain dead shithead thought it was a good idea to keep it a secret?

    seriously, who thinks like this?

I've heard people like Bloomberg say they had no idea it was going to be going on, and then members of the NYPD and NYFD who knew it was going on. Sounds like some people in both DC and New York dropped the ball.

Mindblowing, isn't it? After all they do to "protect" us, no one even thought to give an ounce of warning that this was going to happen?
  • JeanwahJeanwah Posts: 6,363
See, I don't believe that it was for a photo op. I think the media is seriously pulling the wool over the public's eyes who believe everything they hear.
Something else is going on here, and if the NYPD knew about it, then they're part of the big gov't secrecy too. Watch this whole thing get swept under the rug and never mentioned in the media again...

    the arrogance astounds me
  • Someone care to explain what everyone is talking about in here?
  • I wonder how much this cost us ? I heard air force 1 cost about $64,000 an hour to operate. I could be wrong though.

I would have been freakin out. What the hell did they think was going to happen? Oh look there's a commercial jet flying around Manhattan no big deal

air force one was flown over NY (?) I think, through restricted air space. No one knew about it, not even the mayor. gov't buildings were evacuated, general panic, mayhem ensued.

The reason given by the media was that it was for a photo op, to see what it would look like.

    ???

which may be the strangest cover story i have ever heard.

I do think it was a giant fuck-up. I also think that ass that authorized it should be canned, and I think he will.

I think it was a fuck-up for the simple fact that while they got authorized and got approved to run the "mission", they forgot the fact that the public might not know about it.

    Big-time "doh"!

Either way, the guy needs to go!

I heard over $300K. That's our new administration at work, folks....spending our tax dollars when they could just purchase a postcard like the common folk.

Yup. It's THIS administration that is wildly "spending our tax dollars". Not the previous ones that have been out of control, but THIS one.

I thought people were voting for CHANGE??

Now you're excusing bad behavior because previous administrations acted that way?

Anyone defending this photo op debacle - from execution to cost - has their head in the sand.

No one is excusing this. It is really stupid. I could photoshop up a scene like that in 10 minutes and have it look just as real. However, it's even more stupid to start pointing fingers now like this is the straw that will break the camels back.

I think people should be pointing fingers so we can prevent the arrival of the straw that eventually breaks the camels back.

I thought the previous administration was far too liberal with our money so it's not surprise that this one is going to be even worse in my eyes.

  • This is another example of this administrations pre 911 mindset. First the memos and then this  It's only a matter of time.

I don't know what it could have been.

maybe a serious breech of security that they don't want to admit to , to government perks...maybe Biden was taking the jet for a cruise? I don't know, just speculation.

    But to get a picture?

we have cgi, technology to do this without sending mothers into labor and giving the elderly heart attacks, which apparently happened.

Its just sounds ridiculous to me that someone would use air force 1 on a photo op right over ground zero. how stupid do you have to be to authorize something like that?

yeah but c'mon....this is our federal govt....this is exactly the kind of lame, dumbshit move they'd do.....doesn't matter who's president....bureaucrats are morons...always have been, always will.....i guarantee the guy that that thought of this didn't think for one instant that anyone would have a problem with it....washington dc is like a cocoon.....once in it, the people there think they can do anything and no one will bother them....surely 20 years of bushes and clintons have taught us this ;)

Ah you guys.....government wastes money all the time. When I was AD Air Force, my shop had to come in on a Saturday to catch ten A-10 aircraft that flew up from Davis-Monthan (Tuscon) to Luke (Phoenix) for a pilot pool tournament. There reason was "pilot training" but it was odd that they brought their pool cues. What kills me is that they could have rented a van and drove the 2 hours up. By my weekend isn't that important I guess.

We also had a F-18 land one time for gas, both pilots were flying across the country, partying in all the big cities just for "flight hours". ........I never liked pilots......
    BRING BACK THE WHALE
  • The money dosent bother me as much as the people that had to evacuate from their office buildings and one would think not knowing it was air force 1 but that it was another attack. Go find the clip and look at all the people running around and screaming. If that had been me I would have been livid :x :x

I agree. There is not enough questioning on the public's part in demanding what this was really about. I don't believe the excuse given by AF1 to the media that this was a photo op, and neither should anyone blindly believe everything the media tells you to believe. Where's the questioning? Why aren't we pushing for what this was really about rather than settling for a stupid excuse that REALLY doesn't make any sense.

I know the gov't likes to waste money, but the lack of human decency to alert the public prior to this incident isn't plain forgetfulness or inconsideration. There's definitely something more to this.

Imagine if Bush did this? The press would have eviscerated him and this would still be a huge story.
