When I get tired of the pub
115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!
  • Earlier than everyone else ;)

Nah, only gonna queue for Manchester... and that's only if I don't get too wrecked on the Sunday night...

Yes, I have been to some Pearl Jam concerts. Several of them.

I really want to be as close as possible as I'm a tad on the short side  . But at the same time hate getting up early. Oh the dilemma!

I'll see how I feel at the time. At the mo I'd be happy taking it easy and going to a pub or something to chill out til maybe 4 or 5. Nearer the time I'll probably decide to queue early though.

Well, as there is no early admission and we're going to have to battle with the GA masses, you'll probably need to be there by at least 7am to get front row...
Wembley 07 I started queueing at about half 6 and there were still about 10-15 people ahead of me... and that was at only one of the two entrances (I got lucky and our door opened first). If there's more than one entrance then all bets are off and it's pot luck... even if you're at the front of the queue.

Yeah, Manchester especially is a crap place to queue. Upon entry they split the big queue into smaller queues that enter by different entrances, so it always results in everyone doing that running/walking thing to get to front row first and by luck someone 30 or so back in the big queue may end up being the front of one of the small queues. Nothing like a fair queueing system :D

We'll probably get there sometime in the morning, around 9am because 7am is just too early :p

I have no problem with not being in the first few rows, it's great being in the middle of the crowd so as long as I'm not at the very back I'll be a happy camper.

Lies. I didn't start queing for Foo's (who have a bigger UK fanbase than PJ) at the MEN until about 1.30pm and there was still only about 10 people in the queue. Front row wasn't a problem. I'm planning on getting the train down in the morning and arriving for 10/11ish.

PJ gigs have MUCH earlier queues than Foo gigs. Especially since with PJ lots of people get hotels near the venue and head down when they get up, whereas at Foo gigs people usually go to their local gig so most people are travelling from about an hour away. The touring fans make all the difference, if they start early then thats a good 30-40 people starting early.

Having said that, I have no idea how the London queue will be. With it being the day after Manchester, I guess most people will be travelling down from Manchester in the morning so the queue will probably be later starting.

We'll have to wait and see :D

if it wasn't to be on the front row, I don't need to show up before the door opens! (and most show I still get to the front couple of row anyway, effortlessly)
will see, there's several queue at the O2, and from what people say it's also a mess at Manchester... so don't feel like queuing from early morning if I won't end up at the front anyway.. might as well go to the pub
will see how it goes at the time..

one thing for sure, I'm not pulling an allnighter ever again. (well, if it was their last ever show I'd do it but not otherwise)

I dunno how ye can enjoy a show after doing an all-nighter! I've no idea how early I've reached a queue, maybe 10am or so? It's such a waste of a day really, when you could be off exploring for a few hours. Thats when ye need people to hold yer place for ye :D

Luckily, living fairly close to Manchester means I've seen the place loads of time so I have no desire to do the tourist thing. So I don't mind the queue!

Definitely won't be queueing in London. I'm gonna ask to get off that bus somewhere in town and go home to sleep on my bed. Won't be exploring either- spent 4 unemployed weeks doing that. Like I says, the pub it is.

    I agree.

I think queuing is a waste of a day. Life is short enough as it is... I'll be in the pub.

It's madness that people will queue all day, I love pearl Jam but thats taking it a bit to far, I have never been to far back so I don't think there is a need to stand ther all day.

It would ruin the whole experience for me, I hate queueing.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.

it's madness that it's always the same people spending all day in the queue. ;)

I think the earlies I've been in a queue.. was around 10 AM... did get to the front few rows but I would've loved the show anyway.
"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."
  • I've only done the early queueing a few times (Torino and Pistoia 06 and Wembley 07), however there is a certain amount to be said for it...

It's not how long you queue, it's who you queue with... If you know everyone around you then it can actually be quite a fun day. People look after your spot if you want to have a wander around for a bit (or run to the loo) and you get to chat to random strangers you've never met before.

If you already know most people though... and they're all in the pub... then there's a certain amount more to be said for that option! ;p

there's anything to see in Manchester?

I've seen quite a bit of Berlin already and live in London so those I'm not bothered (though I'll probably get off with Hinn and go home get some sleep too ;))..and queueing can be fun, it's our version of tailgating (which nobody does here).

    It does?!

I went to Uni at Manchester, and love it, it's a great place to live. But I really don't see what it has to offer for people visiting for a few days other than fans of the Smiths and the Hacienda. :? Unless you count that london eye ripoff.
