PJ in Toronto

I posted a while back that my brother has a source at Live Nation that said PJ was in talks to book a show in Toronto at the Molson Ampitheatre this summer. He just called me and said that a show has been booked for August 21st.

My initial reaction was that the date makes no sense, but as I looked in to it, it actually makes a lot of sense. The last of the European shows is London on August 18th. They will come back across the pond and play Toronto on the 21st. Once again, it looks like the band is going out of their way to open the North American leg of their tour in Toronto.

My guess is, given the other rumours, that they will go on to Chicago after Toronto and then on down to San Fran for the Outside Lands Festival.

Take it for what it is. This may or may not happen. But according to my brother's source, who works for Live Nation, this is a done deal.

That would kick so much ass. The Blue Jays are playing at home that week and I could kill two birds with one stone.

In a way I hope you're wrong. I'm not a fan of being the leg opener. But if that's the only way Toronto gets some PJ I'll take it. Friday night too!

Why not? They're certainly not covering all their bases out there, but the bottom line is a lot of their European fans will get to see the band play live again.

Isn't that the kind of thing we should applaud? If they wanted to, they could make all the money they need with another 10 shows in Philly/NY/Boston.

Can't see it happening. It makes no sense schedule wise, and the amphitheatre has Kenny Chesney booked on the 20th and Great Big Sea on the 22nd. I can't see the amphitheatre having 3 shows in 3 days.

Way to let the cat out the of the proverbial bag. I hope your source over at Live Nation doesn't get canned by your lack of respect for them. Yes, it's super cool that they MAY be coming to TO and those TWEETS have been chirping for some time now, but my dear PJ friend, why oh WHY would you put your friend's job on the line or your friendship for that matter by dropping that info to the masses this early?? Yes, it's just the Pit, and who cares? But, for those of us who have the leg up on the facts....I'd be careful on what you tweet. Enjoy the rain.

i think it's funny how your join date is aug 21, 2008 - exactly 1 year before this potential show, and now you are flaming him for disseminating information about a potential show - i thank beerbaron, cause if it's the case, i need to get my shit in order with the border patrol in hopes that those nazis will let me back in

Actually, I didn't mean that in a derogatory way at all. What I meant is that some may say it would seem strange that they're doing only four shows in Europe; similarly, some would find it strange that they would play a few shows on the East Coast before heading out west for a festival/tour. I'm saying I'm a believer, and think it's not that absurd.

why do you think they will head to chi town after TO? Wasn't there a big rumor about philly for early spet? hmm guess it would make more sense for them to head out west after TO to get over there by end of august, then head back east for sept, then end up in the middle with ACL in TX by october.

Seems like a lot of traveling out of the way to me... but I couldn't be happier that they are touring!
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

pretty sure no one here knows who his "source" is so no jobs will be lost.. and stuff like this comes up ALL the time before show announcments no one cares...people like hearing stuff like this and for all we know it is also just speculation...nobody is going to do anything untill the band actually announces it...and telling people on the board doesnt mean he has "lack of respect" for his friend...i know id do the same thing if i had info like that!

Exactly why I think this does make a little bit of sense. Think about it ... they are in Europe for FOUR shows. That makes no sense. Then 2 weeks later they are in San Fran. It only makes sense to fill those 2 weeks with shows and if the south is getting shows in Sept/Oct, they probably just picked a couple of cities that they like playing that are between London and San Fran and slotted them in. Toronto makes sense.

Like I said, this may or may not happen and the info is not info that I heard directly. But it sounds solid.

I posted the same rumor last month about a potential TO show, also quoting a friend who works for LiveNation. After seeing this thread this morning I hopped on to the ol' Facebook and had a chat with said friend. He said it's pretty close but never said it was confirmed.

So as BeerBaron put it: "Take it for what it is."

And the award for the worst post in the history of the Message Pit goes to...

Pretty hard to get a guy fired when I don't even know his name. Like I said, it is not coming directly from "the source". If the source was someone that I knew, I would not be implicating him.

And you need to take it easy man. It's not like this is the first rumour that has ever been posted here. I doubt that Live Nation is going to read this and I doubt even more that if they do, they are going to contact the FBI to track down and fire my "source" ...

I can't believe I just spent this much of my time replying to your post ...
