Eh, I try not to get too worked up. It seems like there is always something that's being touted as the next big threat. I'm not going to get scared until I actually get it.
Then I'm going to have to load up on chicken soup and Sprite...
"The dude abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' her easy for all us sinners."
Yeah, I think it might be somewhat a minor threat, but the media is going to instill fear in everyone. Like the above poster said, I'll worry about it when I get it.
not worried ... but, I will say, me and my girl were thinking of going to Mexico in the next few months (her family is from there), we'll certainly monitor this before finalizing any plans.

It's not spring unless an infectious disease scare comes.
Let's see- Bird flu, West Nile Virus, Hoof and Mouth disease, Mad Cow Disease.... list goes on and on...
Anyone remember those swarms of killer bees that were making their way north? Still haven't seen any of those little fuckers...

With all the media coverage that everything gets these days the only 'pandemic' that is going to kill lots of people is one that moves quickly and has like a 50% kill ratio.
Not any of this crap that kills less than 1% of people infected.
Im in NJ, not cali or texas, therefore I could care less.
so you do actually care then.
NJ isnt immune to diseases as far as i'm aware... there have already been reported cases in New York
The US has found 20 confirmed cases of swine flu: eight students in New York and other sufferers in California, Kansas and Texas.
before you slate the media perhaps consult the media and find out some facts?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
I'm a little worried... but that's just probably because we've been talking about pandemics in my Infectious Disease Ecology class... and it looks kind of ugly right now.

Call me what you like but i'm actually quite worried about this, but then, I have reason...
The virus seems to be attacking otherwise healthy people between the age of 7 and 50 - I'm 25. I also have an immune system disorder. Now, When I get colds, I get them BAD. When I get the Flu, I'm in bed for two weeks minimum. This immune system disorder has nearly killed me once, just from the normal flu virus, so understandably, i'm rather worried about catching the mutated H1N1 virus.
I'm not gonna panic though, I'm just going to take extra precautions with cleanliness and hygiene and stay away from anyone who coughs or sneezes. And if I develop flu like symptoms, I'll go to the quacks.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

It's not really a bad flu. Not to worry
Allow me to rephrase that. It's not really a bad flu outside of Mexico...
Is ther a vaccine? Years ago the swine flu came around, but I guess this one has the bird flu and some other flu that comes with it.
I am worried about it.

There is not.
our government is telling us we have a vaccine and that we have stock of it to cope with any pandemic... :?

Well it's a new strain of flu and to make a vaccine and stockpile it takes months, so maybe they just have a stockpile of red smarties?

Exactly what I was thinking. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies will undoubtedly make a fortune off this panic.

just going by the BBC website which reads
"We have established a stockpile of enough anti-virals to treat more than 33m people, that is to say half of the UK population," he said.
