I was lying in bed the other night, in the darkness...just drifting away with PJ...I had my skullcandy's on at high volume, and I put on the bootleg of my very first PJ concert...07/02/2006 Denver, CO...
They opened with WWS, and it was incredible, but it's not until now that I realize how spot on they were that night. Anyways, to get to the point, they played Severed Hand that night and as I was listening to it in the dark, I was so concentrated on everything, especially the drums.
So, I guess consider this a new game...if there is any version, of any song that you know of where there is something specific that just sends chills through your body, now is the time to share

Personally for me its "Who You Are" on the 2008 boots, I guess it would be 6-19-08, Camden. When he says, "Take me for a ride, before we leave". Also, on "In My Tree", when he says "Lets say knowledge is a tree, its growing up just like me".
Both remind me of my son. Hard to explain, but those are my parts!!0 -
Yeah, that's awesome! Haven't heard that boot, but it's cool to hear somebody else's preference.
Speaking of In My Tree, there is a Columbus, Ohio show from 2000, i think it's August 12th...maybe? Can't remember, it's at home...but during the second verse of In My Tree on that, Mike's guitar is just piercing. Love it!!7/2/06 - Denver, CO

When Ed sound checks Immortality on the Italy DVD. Sounds like he just smoked half a pack of cigs, but I love that clip0

That part in Alive before..."Is somethin' wrong?" she said "
How the guitars crash through then go soft. It is like a rock orchestra, well crafted.Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140 -
On the Live at the Gorge box set, during "do the evolution" eddie sings , "admire my son, he's my clone,,,,,same shit, I wore back in 1993!,,,"
and at a show i saw in Camden Ed says " two of the best things about philadelphia,,,,dr. j and the crowds."0 -
I heard a great Ed quote when I was at Bonnaroo: Ed said something along the lines that in a wide open field in the middle of Tennessee, it's shocking that it would seem most like Amsterdam, Holland. For those of you that don't know, apparently there are some illegal activities happening at Bonnaroo? Who knew?
But in a song, I definitely like the Unplugged version of Black that ends with the "We Belong Together" part. Also, heard a great version of Betterman with Eddie solo in Chicago. So many, it'd be hard to name them all.0 -
My favorite specific part of a song is contained on the studio version of Corduroy....Right after "can't buy what I want because its free, can't buy what I want because its  ( ) THAT PART. When they play it live its a solid quiet spot, but on the studio version, there's those guitars parts that come sliding in....EXCELLENT!0

my favorite live song was in cleavland in 06 when the cavaliers and pistons were playing for the conferance finals, and the crowd was chanting pistons suck, just before faithful and ed didnt want to repeat it because they were going to detroit next. also during the show, during do the evolution, ed said "those ignorant indians... pretty good team, yeah?!"
also off the vegas download in 11/30/93 at aladdin theater during alive he says, "as she walks across the young mans room, she said i'm ready... to fuck you." and later says "you know theres something wrong... is that the question, you fucking bitch"
another alive intro i love is off the oceans single when he is out of breath, and tells everyone "you survived today, nomatter what band could come up here, this thing wouldnt happen without you, your the whole reason this thing is even half way a success, its you surving the rain, its you whos gonna be sick tommorow, its you who we appreciate, thank you"gorgeous was his savior0 -

since the first comment was bonnaroo i thought your second one would be as well. i was also at that concert and...
the part in black unplugged always killed me the past few years cause of my own personal ordeal. couldn't stop listening to it. i never heard him use that "we belong together line" in any other versions or boots.
then at bonnaroo was the first time i saw black live..at the end (after mikes solo which i swear his guitar was crying) he switched it to "we didn't belong together". that was crazy for me..kinda lost on the inside
that was also right after betterman/save it for later which was amazing
what a night0 -
my fav. part of a PJ song is Faithful, where the jam happens around the 1:49 mark through 2:21 I always blast this part in my car as loud as i can. Fuckin' sweet!Straight down the center for a hot chicken dinner!0

Off He Goes- "Before his first day...he is off again."
When I was 17, I had a car accident and my best friend was comatized with a severe brain injury. Sometimes, when he would open his eyes at the hospital, I would get excited because I thought he was looking at me. Then reality would set in and I would notice that he was not focused but rather staring blankly in my direction. That song, in a weird way makes me think of him. I miss him and the song helps me remember him.TDR0 -

- The beginning of Go (Vs version)
- Release - when Ed sings I'll ride the wave/Where it takes me
- The end of Present Tense from St. Louis 04.22.2003Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.0 -
Hearing the first intro bit to Of The Girl gives me goosebumps0
-
The transition in present tense...3:30 on.
Love the bass...everything...such a great song.05-10-06, 08-05-07, 06-14-08 , 08-12-08(EV), 06-11-09(EV), 06-12-09(EV), 08-21-09, 05-10-10, 09-11-11, 09-12-11, 07-16-13, 07-19-13, 10-12-13, 10-21-13, 10-22-13,0 -
2:25-3:23 of "No Way" off of YIELD is my favorite part of any Pearl Jam song, musically. They sound so heavy going into that break down where everything just kind of stops and there's feedback and what not, Jack's percussion out in space somewhere, great stuff.ARazorbackguy1 wrote:my fav. part of a PJ song is Faithful, where the jam happens around the 1:49 mark through 2:21 I always blast this part in my car as loud as i can. Yes! Same here! Honorable mention for me!
Also gotta go with the explosion at the end of "Rearviewmirror" off the record, the into and end of "Go" off the record, the intro to "Rat's" off the record...
Oh yeah! All of Jack's drum fills on "Brain of J.", the Dave drum fills of "Go" right before the second chorus, the Matt drum solo breakdown on "Marker In the Sand", and also this fill Matt does towards the end of "Johnny Guitar".
I could talk about song parts all day!Fan of singer songwriters who push musical boundaries?

"Finally the shades are raised...." in Rearviewmirror. It really sound the way the lyrics say - final. Amazing!0

In 'Hail Hail', when there's that almost off-mic "yeah" from Ed. Fucking great song and it sound like Ed is really getting into it.
"Parting Ways" - Ed sings "And though he's too big a man to say / there's a fear that they'll soon be parting ways" and then there's the crash of drums and guitars. Given the context of the song, this is brilliantly done - it's the sound of this guys relationship collapsing around him and the realization hitting him. Genius.
In "I Am Mine", right at the end after Ed sings "There's no need to hide" and the solo kicks in. Just a great ending to a great, great song. It's gonna be a glorious day...0 -
My two most fav parts are when "from the blackboard" from Jeremy onwards and " I know that i could not ever touch you" from Porch onwards.
These are the reasons i first started getting into PJ and cemented these two songs as my all time favs!
The MTV Unplugged versions are awesome and i make sure i listen to both songs daily to get my fix!I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why, why, why
Can't it be, can't it be mine0 -
