oh and a ques for the albany natives... there any good hotels near our pre=party location?
Crown Plaza ($168/night no refund, $189/n refundable)
Holiday Inn Express (~$123/night norefund, $130/n refundable)
Hampton Inn ($209/night)
all are within relative walking distance of the venue and pre-party (hotels.com is where I grabbed those prices). The HI Express is the farthest away at about 3/4 of a mile or so. IMHO downtown Albany isn't the best place to be walking around late at night... however if you're not alone (walking back in a group), you'll be fine. The Hampton is the closest to the venue at approx. "right around the corner" as well as being essentially in between the venue and the pre party.
FYI, The cheapest sub $100/night place is approx 2 miles away.
oneforeachday, thanks very much for that info appreciate it
I think i'll just get a taxi back to the hotel, as I don't want to get lost in place I don't know, especially one that isnt the safest! $120 a night! crazy lol.. what happened to those $40 a night motels :? might sleep rough under a bridge somewhere, alot cheaper!

no prob. ;-)
LOL. yeah... Days Inn by the SUNY Albany campus (about 5 miles away) for $67/night non-refundable ($79 refundable). If you're gonna take a cab, you could consider that, but really, what you're going to pay in to/from cab fare to there you might as well stay at least at the HI Express.
If you choose the "under the bridge" option, depending on the bridge, I'm sure you'll have company!
anyone try to bid on priceline yet? - plug in 4 star and start at $50... let us know....
I'd be afraid that someone from the Albany Chamber of Commerce convinced priceline that the Downtown Motor Lodge (or worse Motel 6) is 4 star. LOL.

I tried to priceline a 3 star hotel downtown for $70 and I got shut out. I am sure you can probably get something cheaper if you get outside of downtown.
