D2D- got you completely on being prudent. We are not set to attend any PJ shows thus far BUT are hoping for a few announcements soon. I have budgeted IF the Philly Spectrum show comes to light and I will travel for a Seattle show (and ideally Vancouver) as I'd like to spend some time out there. Good to mentally prepare for no PJ because if it works out, its even sweeter! How far is Philly from where you are?
YAY for vacation for you ! Wishing you and your man a fun time and good weather!
yea, sometimes have to act like a grown-up. damnnit.
i would loooooooovvvvvveeeeeee to head out to seattle! i went out there in 2005 for the gorge, and then hit up vancouver, calgary and edmonton. i do have airmiles....and i have friends out there so possibly a sofa to surf, maybe.....but even so, concert tix, eating/drinking, whatever else...it all adds up...and no way could hubby get off work. and truly, 90% of my pj travels have been solo/with friends...but i do feel guilty. and sure...we do need to be prudent....so yea...dunno. haha. philly is certainly doable. while it is 'possible' to go there and come back the same day - yikes! - i'd not do it. i do have some friends down there....joe, you hear me? ....so who knows. IF pj makes their way there, i'll make it happen, somehow. northeast is always doable, somehow. 1-2 nights, especially if i can drive and crash at friends...definitely feasible. but flying somewhere...i am just not one to *waste* airmiles to fly somewhere for 2 days....i'd want to stay a few, make it worth the travel, the time, and the funds/miles, etc. bottomline...we shall see. nevr, know, i could win the lottery before then.
and thanks!
*fingers crossed* that the weather is good! i don't need it too warm, in fact i prefer low-mid 70s.....i just don't want rain. oh, and i truly hope the evil kinevil poster is what is for sale baltimore 2.....b/c that's the one i want.
You surf too? You and I should catch a beer sometime, (gardening, surfing, travelling, PJ- what more is there?!) maybe we'll meet in BMore! My hubba hubbsie has insisted on attending all shows thus far but I almost took off for Europe myself and when PJ last played the Showbox...that is when my prudence and guilt kicked in so I didn't end up making the trek. I hear you about using the miles for only a few days, we usually buffer the trip by a few days to enjoy the cities- I always think its a great way to see new places (esp as when I travel for work, I get very little chill time) The pacific northwest trip you took sounds incredible!! which Gorge was it (Hello Tom, come down Tom?) or the later ones?
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.

I've had enough, said enough, felt enough. I'm fine, still in it.

hahahaha...i SOFA surf, as in crash on friends sofas. i don't surf, surf. however, the gardening, traveling, pj and drinking i do...tho alas, not beer.....but totally up for the wine! or sure, i am know to drink the hard stuff too. hubby is not nearly as big as fan as i am - and the irony is, he is the one to turn me onto pj, haha. he enjoys shows, but hates GA....and 3 shows is definitely his limit, and even that pushes it.....tho last summer i think he had a total BLAST in DC and both MSGs....but i went onwards to hartford and mansfield I with a friend. and yea, it's waaayyyyyy cheaper going solo. so outside shows at home, or close to it....he usually stays put. he sure would've loved to hit up europe with me both tours, but alas....couldn't get the time off, and as i said....GA is not his scene. the gorge show i was at was the 'hello tom' one. :P if this years europe shows were better timed for me, it would've really been killer to pass up. *just* as they were announced i already had an email from my italian buddy with whom i did both 2006 and 2007 european shows with, hahaha. so just as well work-wise there was NO way....b/c yea.....still gets pricey. there are pros/cons on both sides....going with friends....going with hubby.....both are great fun tho, as long as i get live pj!
as far as travel goes...EXACTLY! each time i've traveled for pj shows.....always plan a good itinerary around the shows, but am sure to bookend the trip, either before/after...or both....with some extra days to really experience the places. besides, no better way to get to know some locals than at a concert. great, great trips......
and hey, can always grab a drink pre or post show in baltimore.....i shall PM my cell. hell, we're even staying in the same hotel! always great to meet/make new pj friends.....
just wanted to offer a big thank you to all of you and your wonderful suggestions!
mr. dream and i had a great trip! the aquarium was indeed fantastic, even with all the little kiddies running about :? ...truly enjoyed it. inner harbor is a bit of a theme park, soooo touristy, really surprised me. fells point tho - fantastic! really enjoyed the area....the shops...the restaurants.....the gelato place. we went to a fantastic mexican restaurant in canton....total local place, great food and prices, called geckos. highly recommend it. also, the brewer's art was great! perfect spot for a meet-up, great menu, drinks and prices!

thank you, thank you, thank you for the suggestion of hitting up longwood gardens!   OMG...what an utterly gorgeous place! hubby and i spent over 5 hours there, definitely could've stayed even longer! we saw everything there was to see pretty much, but more time would've been even better. we went on tuesday, the day we were heading home, only open until 6 PM. thursdays, fridays and saturdays they are open i think until 9 PM...would've been great to have more time there, and to see all the fountains lit up at night. someday we shall go back. totally LOVED the place. took an insane amount of pictures, most especially of the water lily ponds....sweet bejeebus...how i love them so! the place was just unbelievably beautiful, and if not for you we'd not have known about it nor gone. we almost didn't go b/c the weather was looking ominous. thankfully we decided eh, just go, see what happens. while it wasn't a sunny day at all and rather cool, it didn't rain so we were sooo glad we went!
