Alright let's not get crazy here. After all people are living longer than they ever have. Today, the average lifespan of someone living in the U.S. is just months shy of 78, and there is little reason to think that we won't continue to push the life expectancy envelope.

Also, they we have seen a rise in cavities (especially in kids) as people drink more bottled water which has little to no fluoride. Decaying teeth is a problem that often leads to other diseases within the body.

Check the flouride in your town.

Also when people say things like how it's safe in small amounts...If it's in our water, we often have fruits, crops produced with it, it's in much of our foods etc. So we are getting more than those 'safe' numbers. All was/is/has/still being done often without a public referendum. It''s unacceptable.

Just give us clean water. That's it. If people don't want cavities, then they should take care of their teeth, eat better, be smarter.

Something kinda funny From that article

"Soda is worse (than water). Let's be clear about that. It has sugar and is carbonated, which creates acid that wears away the enamel," says Dr. Jarvis Chan, an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. "But if you aren't getting fluoride through water, you are missing out on decay-preventing benefits."

So rather than the dr say, "avoid soda and whatever other junk that causes decay/damage", he say's "But if you aren't getting fluoride through water, you are missing out on decay-preventing benefits."

It's just all backwards. How about a dr who talks about the "decay-preventing benefits" of so many natural products.

If we took away all the HFCS, Chemicals and whatever else out of our foods/drinks etc and with proper oral Hygiene we would no doubt see a decrease in tooth decay and surely a host of other health issues related and not related to tooth decay.

But Perhaps dealing with the 'root cause' of things in our modern society is just too much work.

Real prevention I feel would be, Firstly Not adding another chemical to counter other chemicals or whatever else...and we should simply just eat better, You are what you eat. I dunno, maybe not.

If the governments care so much about our teeth, then stop wasting money on war and give us free dental. Don't dump Fluoride waste into our tap water under the guise of promoting good teeth. Yea, they really care about our oral health.

They care about our health, then they should ban these toxins, not promote them. Contaminants, regulated and unregulated toxins. Whatever else.

the rise in caries in children is related to the shit diets and from the many hidden sugars that are in processed foods these days. caries rates in children dropped dramatically in australia through the 1970s, 80s, 90s after the introduction of fluoride in the late 1960s. caries rates have since increased a little in the 2000s, but still not anywhere near where they were 40 yrs ago.

however, the misunderstood factor is that the benefits of fluoridated tap water are negligible after the age about 11. so the increase of bottled water use is not really related as i feel a high proportion of young children would still today be drinking mains water over bottled water.

as for "where" the fluoride compounds come from... to be honest i have no idea.. china? everything comes from china!
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

I will say that I find it a bit odd that they put it in our water. I think if you want flouride you should purchase it yourself. I do not think we should be wasting money on it. I also think that it is not that big of a deal as people are living a lot longer. I would be more worried about cell phones and brain cancer than flouride.

It's not just about how long you live, but also the quality of the life that is lived.

Fluoride will out of our water by the end of April ... Council voted to remove it. We'll be part a few communities in Canada that has removed Fluoride and more communities are studying removal.

Nice! We have been trying to get Fluoride out of our water in Toronto for a few years now.
Many people I talk to in the city are aware of it, but I think sometimes were are just too easy going, and not always in a good way.

At the end, many people also feel that our governments or the people in charge would not do something to us that would hurt us. If they put it in our water, it must be good.

i haven't used flouride in my toothpasts for like over a decade except for the odd time away when you're borrowing someone else's toothpaste ... i go to the dentist every year and it takes him like 20 mins to clean out some tartar build up and what not but aside from that my teeth are healthy ... flossing is big ... but i think it pretty much discounts the need for flouride ... that is unless the amount in our drinking water is so significant that it makes a difference ... i will admit that i do pretty much only drink tap water ...

It's taken awhile ... now we're just waiting for provincial approval ... should be out of water by the end of April.

Lots of opposition to it but the council did the right thing ...

I have not read up much on it ... Glad it's coming out though. I can get floride other ways if needed.

Dang, I switched to Tom's because of Colgate being made in Mexico. I briefly used Rembrandt but then they took the made in USA off the label. I also remember switching to Tom's based on someone's recommendation here. I'll check out dr kens.

As far as the fluoride, ever watch how they clean up a minor spill? I'll avoid it, thanks. I feel the same about the flu shot, why add formaldehyde?

Fwiw, only my opinion and my doctor's, the biggest problem shoved down people's throats is the push towards diet soda. That stuff is killer.

I'll try and find/post the transcript of it then, just in case someone else also finds her speech/mannerisms 'troubling' :)

I think that is one of our problems, we should just focus on what is said, not really worry too much about 'how' it is said.

Thank you, Idris! I've heard many of these points before and, mannerisms or not, what she says is important!

Does anyone else find it sad that the government can put chemicals into your water and that's ok, but if you want to take a little pot the government want you in jail ...
