What's with the bitchin'?

OK, i'm not normally one to say something but this has got my goat good.
EV did a solo tour last year, he did the West Coast, we all know this.
Pearl Jam did a tour last year, they did East Coast.
EV has just announced another solo tour, this time East Coast and down to the south (which you all bitched about)
Now, in 2006 Pearl Jam played THREE dates in the UK - London Astoria and Reading and Leeds festival
In 2007, Pearl Jam played ONE date in the UK - Wembley.
Before that we hadn't seen them on European soil, let alone English soil, for 6 years.
I don't understand how quite a few (not all) of you American's on here, bitch whinge and moan when a tour gets announced. The band owe you the same as they owe us Euro types - NOTHING.
We get a tour once in a blue moon and when it happens, we approach it with a positive attitude, we all help each other out and look forward to seeing a band we all love so much, together. I know personally a lot of PJ fans who travelled to different countries to see Ed and the boys, so why do some of you have a problem hopping on a plane for a few dollars and getting to a show in a different state?! No no, instead you come on here and bitch that Ed's not playing Seattle, Denver, California... wherever! while you're still beavering away to get tickets to these 'wrongly located'* shows. The negative threads far outweigh the positive when shows are announced and i'll be honest, it pisses me right off.
*all because it's not on your own doorstep.
I also think that the ticket policy is rather good for small EV shows... everyone gets a fair chance regardless of bandwidth, connection strength or working hours and internet access. I don't think it'll work for PJ shows but hey! Give Kat and Sea et al some credit. They know how this shit works and I for one, trust their work and judgement.
I'd give my right arm for a tour at the arse end of this year/beginning of next - EV or PJ. I also understand that it may not happen... and i'm fine with that. I'm just pleased for you American's who are lucky enough to see Ed's wonderful solo work performed by the man himself.
I don't wanna start a fight, I just don't think you know how good you have it.

Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

I agree with all of this, but its always the same, there should be a sticky thread for bitching so it can all be put in one place!and we'd have to post in it too cos now we're bitching about bitching
London, Copenhagen 07
MSG 08
SBE, Manchester, London 09
Dublin, Belfast, London 10
CHILLIN LIKE BOB DYLAN!!!
That's what's wrong with this place. It's not like it used to be.
The ticket prices were the same as last year's...plus, the Albany show is only a 30-minute drive for me.
It's great to live in the northeast(of USA). :P
EV- 08/09,10/2008.06/08,09/2009
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I'm very, very frightening
and I'll overdo it'
and the astoria.. I was lucky enough to be there, that place is tiny, probably smaller than most EV solo tours!
But I get the feeling this wont happen if Pearl Jam is supposed to tour in the fall.

agree with sian
Not sure about the ticket restriction, i'm personally hoping it won't be like that for PJ shows (purely because it takes away the fun of hitting refresh and the agony and stress and elation of getting tickets-but that's just me!)
2007 ░▒▓ London, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nijmegen
2009 ░▒▓ Manchester, London
2010 ░▒▓ Hyde Park

I completely agree with you, Sian.
+1
hell yeah, couldn't have said it any better
Think its funny how some americans just dont travel to any shows, i would go anywhere in Europe to see Ed and probably do the entire tour.
I third it!

This happens EVERY time there is a ticket announcement/tour...
I hope everyone who gets tickets has a wonderful time! I went to some shows on the West Coast leg last year, but I skipped the Ed shows on his East Coast leg. I'll be skipping it this time too. Personally, I'm much more interested in a PJ show!! Ed was magical...but, yeah, I'd so much rather have PJ news and see PJ.
But good luck to everyone who gets tickets! Liam Finn is AWESOME btw!
well said. And yes, Liam Linn is AWESOME
nice writing sian.
I KNOW that bitchin' happens, i'm just sick of it. I was just trying to highlight that the American's should be glad for what they have for a change and keep a positive attitude.
Let's face it, if interviews and speculation are anything to go by, we may not get PJ on European (let alone Australian) soil for another two years... and we're all willing to wait patiently for that. You Americans have got it good. So please, just be grateful.
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
dude, the point you make about the astoria isnt a negative one, its a very very positive one...
but generally the English fans get fucked all over by this band. Two festivals dates and one arena in 9 years....and the small warm up show.....to think the reception the boys get over here compared to the states too makes it a bitter pill to swallow and they dont even always sell out in the states
different board, same shit
+1
I think the only way to get around this is for them to announce a non-stop tour that doesn't finish until they have played in every country possible! They could record on the road like REM did with 'New Adventures' and just keep going
