What's amazing is that I am sure there were 100s of us that didn't read the info and thought they had scored tix (with ease), I checked the tickets section around 1:04 to see if anything looked "ready to drop" and everything was there. Felt like I won the lottery - I grabbed Albany and went over to the Pit to post they were up when I realized something was amiss. Went back and realized the times, they were a changin'. Anyhow, happy to even have an opportunity to participate. Truth be told, the old way was kind bullshit (total randomness), that said, I think the window of 2 days may be a little long. Good luck to all

Chipotle @ 39th and Walnut. I am SO there the day of one/both shows!

Hell yea!!!....but I can't risk Chipotle, wouldn't want to have to keep getting up in the middle of the set to go to the bathroom

anyone know what the train situation is in upper darby? could i stay in a hotel in center city and be able to get a train to the venue? looking for hotels as we speak

I'm just going to take a taxi to and from... I hate dealing with Septa.

I know cabs run heavy on market street but do they pass the theater often? I would assume they would on nights of shows.
A cab isn't going to be cheap. Where are you coming from?

Rittenhouse Square. I'm figuring the fare will be around $30 or $35 back to center city. If anyone wants to split a cab ride back, I'm all for it (If I get tickets). I live in Philly about 9/10 days a month, so I know the area well... I've just never been to the venue.

This will be awesome! I can just schedule my work trip for the end of that week, and all my expenses are covered. Very cool!

Now if only someone else gets tickets for Friday night, and wants to swap... I could easily hit up both nights. :)

Yikes! That's a LOT of money.
I hope you at least consider taking the Market-Frankford line if it's running to 69th that weekend. As far as I can tell, it's been 8pm on Friday that the closure starts, so at least Thursday you should ride.

The Market-Frankford line costs $1.40 and will take you from the door of The Tower to Rittenhouse (or elsewhere in Center City) in 20 minutes.

That's good to know... Maybe I'll do that instead. I figure a lot of fans will be riding the bus, so it will be a bit safer.

I purchased a chance at the 6/12 tickets, but I only need one. Should I get them, would anyone want to trade 1 ticket for the 11th for one of my tickets for the 12th(should I get them).

Send me a message so we can work out all the details before it is official!

As I've pointed out in a few threads, this is absolutely ideal. But only if that line is running the nights of the show. They've been closing it on the weekends (starting at 8pm on Fridays) for quite some time, from what I gather. So for Thursday's show, it's a safe bet. But Friday might not be as easy.
There will be so many people driving out of there that night, though, that I don't see it being too difficult to find someone willing to drop people off at 30th street station. I know if I have room in my car, I'll offer that up to anyone who needs it.

I plan on driving and parking both nights, so I'd be happy to spare a couple folks cab or train fare if a ride is needed.

Not to be oversensitive, but as a native, I have to mention that it's Upper Darby, not Philly.

For God's sake, everyone and their mother refers to the CAMDEN shows as Philly. Upper Darby is more Philly than Camden is. You miss out on being Philly because of a Creek. :)
I mean, seriously, what the hell is this?

You have to watch with SEPTA.... they operate bus service from 69th street after midnight... so you might be stuck on a slow bus back into the city if the show gets over that late.

I saw Townshend there a while back, you can drive and get there fairly quickly, just shoot down Walnut street and switch to Market when you get closer to 69th street. There is also an underground parking area. If I remember correctly.

I'm not a fan of the El at that time of night.
Don't come closer or I'll have to go

Is there any sort of actual schedule with this? Is it truly every weekend, until the end of time? Or just every weekend until they fix whatever they're doing (I think I read something about making the stations ADA compliant, which is insane that it's taken this long for something like that to happen!!)?
For the past few weeks, I've seen that it's 8pm on Friday through to Sunday night that it's closed, but I didn't know if this was the norm.
The one time we tried taking the El, to see Jon Stewart last year, we didn't know about the night closures, and were blindsided by the "shuttle" bus. It freaked us the HELL out! I mean, I felt fairly safe, but still. It sucked. Then, the bus dropped us at the 36th station, which was closed, and we had to walk to 30th. At least there were a few dozen of us. Safety in numbers!

they've been working on that section of the El for years now, the only way to truly know what their plans are is to contact Septa directly . . . and good luck with that

Actually SEPTA usually runs shuttle buses on the El between the hours of midnight and 5AM every day....

    Riiight. lol
And it seems the website only updates a week or so in advance. So we'd have to wait until the first week of June to even know if it's open or closed. But we can probably count on open for Thursday and closed for Friday.

They do, and I believe the end of the line for the bus is 40th, which means most people will have to get to 30th first, before we can take any regional transit back home. It's just not worth the mess to me.
Anyone within the city, or staying at a hotel, can have fun on that shuttle!
