WHt were they going for on this song? One of the most bizaare if not the most bizaare pearl jam song, along with Bugs and Aye Davanita. Though this song takes the cake.
What was the point of it? What mood were they trying to convey?
I love Foxymop! I love it's creepy groove and samples... it's the last thing people expect from PJ
I'd really love to see PJ play, finish the show and then play Foxymop over the speakers as everyone's leaving...
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
It goes to show that some people cannot handle anything even remotely experimental. It's kind of like how people still bitch that "Revolution 9 "ruins" the White Album, 40 years later.
It kinda does. At least Foxymop comes at the end of the album and has some music to it. Revolution 9 breaks up the flow of a stellar disc 2/side 4 and cuts some great songs off from the rest of the album, and there's nothing musical about it, it's just tape loops. It's the only serious misstep in the entire Beatles catalogue.
It definitely breaks up the flow of the album, but it was the first track of its kind and set an important precedent for experimental studio tracks ever since. Without Revolution 9, there would be no Stupid Mop.
