Name is Matthew, most people aside from my family call me Matt. Which is fine, but what really bugs me is when people send me emails or letters or whatever and they just have Matt.

I don't know why, but it really bugs me!!!

My name is Matthew as well, but I go by Matt. The only person that calls me Matthew is my Mom. She'd always call me that when I was in trouble when I was little. When I'd really f'd up, I'd get the middle name thrown at me as well. ;)

My siblings call me Matty---mainly because they know it drives me crazy.

Ah yes, the infamous middle name getting thrown in. Thats always a good sign to just keep on running!

i've known a few people who went by nick-names then when they age, they change...either to their full name, or another nick name. drives meinsane! it's so difficult to start addressing someone in a new way after so many years! even better, when someone went my their middle name, then decide to go by their first, or vice versa.....soooo hard to do! :P

That sounds like a friend of mine . . . In the 14 year I've known her I've always called her Mel. In the last couple of years I guess she's changed it back to the long form of her name because everytime I meet a new friend of hers they always refer to her by her full name and it takes me a minute to figure out who the heck they're talking about ;)

My name is Amy and you would think that you can't shorten a 3 letter name . . . but you'd be wrong! My favorite nickname though is Ames . . . my favorite aunt has always called me that :D

with my friends w/ really short names ("Al" & "Ed" & "Amy") i actually like to elongate it ("Al-ouicious" & "Ed-mund Fitzgerald" & "Amy-saurus Rex")

I've gotten that a lot - the most memorable being Amosan - A friend went through a phase of adding 'san' onto the end of everyone's names!

Also, my niece and nephew used to say Mattchoo when they were younger because they had a hard time saying Matthew apparently. I miss it....

Mine is already short to begin with, it's a Vietnamese name meaning bright, elegant and blue sky.
Unfortunately I haven't lived up to the meaning of my name.

Bright? - I'm the biggest idiot on the Planet.
    Elegant? - kinda trashy...
Blue sky? - Blue balls, maybe! :?

I go by my full name, which is Jenna. My father-in-law calls me Jen, but he's probably the only person who uses that on a regular basis....other people just do it when they're in a hurry, I guess. I feel like Jenna is too short to shorten, so I don't ever introduce myself that way. Truth be told, I wouldn't let anyone other than my father-in-law get away with calling me Jen. But for some reason, it's just so "him" to call me that, so he is allowed.

CAS...short for Castro and when i was about 3 I drank a bottle of Castoria oil and I had to go to the hospital. Hence the nickname CAS used only by my family.
