You spent $140 bucks and you are not going to listen to it? You are missing out on Drop In The Park. 2000 Mile Blues and Just A Girl are great. Def. glad I opened mine.

It's not a rare gem or anything. Open it and enjoy it. I gave my 1.5 year old son an old record to play with cause he was so fascinated by them. He threw it around the house and used to scrape it across the floor while he walked. 3 months of this and I decided to see if it still worked. Put an old needle on so I wouldn't damage my new one and surprisingly, it played pretty well. Only a few skips in the song. I doubt you could do any damage like that to it. Enjoy it.

What unreleased songs are there from Vs. that we don't already have?

How about the original Alone, not the Lost Dogs version? Or is that from Ten? Surely they have a few things sitting around we don't know about. I had no idea 2000 Mile Blues existed.

I think for the DVD they need to go with Indio or Gimli.

the way i see it, they have to at least announce what they're doing for the next one fairly soon, especially if they're gonna release the next albums seperately. (as opposed to releasing Vs./Vitalogy at the same time, or as a package.) i mean, just look at the math.. their anniversary is 2011, and there's really only a year and a half until then. look at ten, we got the announcement in december and they released it basically 3 months later... i would say we will have an announcement of the next reissue within the next month or two, and that it might come out by the end of the summer, early fall. just speculating...

makes sense, although they may use till the end of 2011, which gives them 30 months. for another 6 studio albums, they may do lost dogs and rvm but i very very very much doubt that, and as pointed out already they wont be doing advocado as that wasnt sony. So one every 5 months from now, including 3 months pre order on each, quite a tough schedule, my bets would be on combining these sets

I was discussing this with a friend last night and I can see Vs. coming out around X-mas, Vitalogy in the spring 2010, No Code and Yield reissued together in the summer of 2010 and Binaural and Riot Act reissued togetehr around their 20th anniversary in October 2010.

I seem to remember somewhere that Betterman was originally recorded for Vs. At least an instrumental, anyway. I think it was like Ed wanted to give the song away to some other artist and have them do vocals for a charity record. Apparently, Brendan O' thought the song was way too good to be thrown away like that, so he "sabotaged" the instrumental they were working on.

I won't be surprised if they have the rest of the reissues ready right around the next album.

I know it's just speculation, but I really think it'll be Vs/Vitalogy, No Code/Yield and Binaural/Riot Act. If they do that, the rest of the sets will be around the same size as the Ten SDE.

I think that the most interesting reissue could be Binaural because there was so much difficulty/disagreement with Tchad Blake and I think there might be a lot of different takes on those songs. We all know there was a lot of stuff left on the cutting room floor during that album and that according to Blake PJ never really allowed him to do what he wanted sonically so that could be really interesting. I am also hoping they put out the different version of Bushleaguer that Stone has talked about from Riot Act just to see what that would sound like. It seems to me the later albums will have the potential for things we have not heard yet.

Indeed, and I wonder if we'll get a live vinyl from those eras since all the boots were done?

hmmm.. just thought about this... hear me out:

vs., vitalogy, no code and yield were all mixed by BO'B... so those could all come out as just re-masters, with bonus tracks of course. Binaural and Riot Act were at least in part mixed by someone else, so i wonder if they will release the next 2 sets as duo albums and then the last 2 as seperate re-mixes and re-masters..? that'd be 4 sets altogether.... space that out over the next 2 years and you're looking at a set every 6 months or so, plus the new album of course....

i would be surprised if they had Brendan remix the 4 albums he mixed in the first place...

and speaking of BO'B..... anybody get the new Mastodon? It is AMAZING!!!! Incredible how he can work with so many bands of such diverse origins and have a consistently great product to put out. i tis easily their best record yet, and arguably one of the better metal records to come out in the last 5 years in my opinion....

J Records is apart of Sony just like Epic is. J, Epic and Legacy have al combined efforts to release materials from other artists as well such as Luther Vandross so it's very possible. It's speculation until something official is stated. The labels are very easily compliant with one another and have affiliation.

if you like them at all... you're gonna love it!! my favorite part is that they have all but done away with the "screaming" aspect of their songs... which, in the past, has kept me from really counting them among my favorite bands. i don't want to sound like an old guy here, but in my opinion, the screaming popular in a lot of heavy bands these days is keeping them from being taken seriously... i know the kids love it, but there is so much more room to express a wide range of emotions when a band sings instead of screams... screaming pretty much conveys ONE emotion.... anger.
