Deja Vu, All Things Must Pass, and Tea for the Tillerman should just come prepackaged with record players. A collection isn't complete unless you own at least those 3. :)

My favorite album on vinyl is Terrapin Station by the Grateful Dead. Perfect for chilling.

Oh God yes!!! It's a must own in my opinion.

Also any My Morning Jacket albums are personal favorites. They all sound so incredible on vinyl (Okonokos in particular).

I think Siamese Dream sounds cool on vinyl. But that's pretty much my favorite non Pearl Jam album so I could be biased.

I would second Tea for the Tillerman.

I'm not necessarily blown away by any of my KOL albums on vinyl.

The reissue of OK Computer is one of the worst sounding vinyls I own, but my other Radiohead stuff is great sounding.

got the turntalbe set up, went down to the local record and picked up the following:

    neil young - harvest
who - quadrophenia, live at leeds
beatles - white album, abbey road
    elvis costello - armed forces
    wilco - yankee hotel foxtrot
ray lamontagne - till the sun turns black
elliott smith - xo, figure 8
velvet underground - velvet underground with nico
    led zeppelin - IV
cat stevens - teaser and the firecat

i looked for a lot of what was recommended by people here, but it was sort of slim pickings. they did have a used jerry rafferty lp for .99c that i skipped on though.

I second these three selections...assuming you speak of Deja Vu by CSNY, which is a fantastic album.

    Here are my recommendations:

Black Sabbath / Master Of Reality
Elton John / Madman Across The Water (GREAT album, especially on vinyl)
Rolling Stones / Let It Bleed...but any Stones really.
    7/2/06 - Denver, CO
    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
    9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2

What the capitol 180 gram reissues? Mine sounds fine!

Hail To The Thief on 45rpm & In Rainbows Deluxe on 45rpm are awesome, the CD doesn't even contemplate this good a sound

To be honest mostly everything on vinyl sounds better than the digital medium, even bog standard pressings can wipe the floor with these remasters.

I haven't heard it on CD but I guarantee the Ten redux 180 wipes the floor with the CD. Floyd always rock on Vinyl, The 30th Anniversary Pressing of Darkside is now reputed the best pressing ever.

Although if you can pick up Jap pressings of albums, I have Atom Heart Mother, Obscure By Clouds, Wish You Were Here (also on half speed master) & Animals all on Jap OBI pressings.

it about time EMI gave their back cat the proper treatment on vinyl, the CD boxset was so naff, I want all the Floyd back cat reissued like DSOM was, we can dream I guess at least PJ listen to their fans and intend to reissue their back cat properly.

AIC Grind on Jap pressing is awesome! It's not cheap and it requires allot of patience but that's half the fun, having it at your fingertips requiring no effort, your not trying to obtain it's just there. When you've hunted around and spent some money and finally found what you were looking for, the feeling of playing it for the 1st time is amazing and yes albums can sound totally different, Jack White according to my friend has deliberately put out different versions of Icky Thump & Consolers on vinyl to the CD, the mixes are different.

I know it's not likely to last forever but it will be a sad day when the death of vinyl finally comes, the digital medium is cheap disposable and unmemorable and you'll never understand that comment unless you embrace the format like so many of us do.

I'll continue fly the flag for vinyl because it's obviously superior, some audiophile sites say you can approach the standard of vinyl on CD but you have to pay the earth for the player that gives you this standard of playback and when you can get a more than decent Turntable for £250 or so I know which way I'm opting for.

The way that people like Bono keep going on about were making music for people who listen to it through things in their ears makes me cringe. Record companies tried to convince everybody that CD was a superior format and luckily some of us saw through that ruse.

it's just cheaper and downloads are even more disposable, no art work just a series of data, I hope people hold out and continue to demand their physical formats, IPOD generation to me will never know how music can sound because it will be all the shuffle crap. Not listening to DSOM in it's entirerty only in random order amongst other artists, this is how some people come to know this music for the first time the way things are going.

Some most likely disagree and think the Digital medium is great for music, maybe for getting the music out there but the quality is definitely suffering.

Viva La Vinyl, Spin the black circle!!!

I got my record player one week ago.
So far I own SDE & Nirvana Bleach.

I want to get The Doors entire catalogue on vinyl, they have a box set with all the albums in a case.
Would love to get Ramones albums as well.

I got all these albums on CD but now I need to get my favourites on vinyl, lot of money to spend.
    Slowly but surely.

The sound of vinyl sure is different, I can't describe it, there is something different that can be heard.

My sister found it at a garage sale for me a couple years back. Nice and broken in. :) I'm obviously not "a collector". Life is too short for poster tubes and shrink wrap if you ask me... Enjoy 'em while you're here.

YES YES YES!!!!! SA is absolutely amazing. The bass sounds so great and all those extra harmonies really pop.

DARK SIDE is a must, the 30th anniversary is great and supposedly the best ever pressing of it.

Get Lateralus and Aenima, for Tool as well. It makes them sound so much more real.
