    Awwww...

I LOVE that "I want to be the plumber of rock stars"...I remember looking at the Riot Act photos and saying, "Wow...he looks like a plumber or a mechanic... or sweep up at a coffee shop..." When I developed my crush on Ed, my husband said, "I thought you said he looked like a plumber or a septic tank drainer..." What? They can't be good looking?

"Do you still wear a lot of flannel?
I'm not wearing one today, but I sure was wearing one yesterday."

So Ed does change his clothes? Interesting.

Newsweek: "Do you still wear a lot of flannel?"
Vedder: "I'm not wearing one today, but I sure was wearing one yesterday."

People do understand that flannel is a fabric not a pattern, right? Plaid is a pattern.

    This is plaid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o6nNFZu2wc

    This is flannel. http://www.amoeba.com/dynamic-images/blog/tad-press1.gif

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that Newsweek doesn't understand this. Misreporting seems to be one of their staples. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/15/AR2005051500605.html

I remember how excited I was when Eddie and Pete Townsend were going to be on David Letterman together (July 28th, 1999 I believe). I even left myself a post on the TV. When it came on my brother was watching TV with me and he said "He doesn't look like a rockstar. He just looks like a normal guy."

I think it's great that he has never really gotten comfortable with the whole "celebrity" thing.

"I don't feel any differnt, although I may have a different job then some of the other parents...." That's a great line.

You recently had a second daughter.
Yep, she's 4 months old. She was born on Bruce Springsteen's birthday. So my one kid's 4, my other kid's 4 months, I'm 44, Barack Obama is the 44th president—it's all lining up nicely here.

    awesome!

no plumber's crack on the cover, believe me, it ain't a pretty sight. :o :?

he is the plumber, been one since '99 :D , glad to see he's accepted it even though his plumbing skills have never been that great, (especially when it comes to repairing garbage disposals, don't let him near one).
    that's a great article,

    01/24/98 Kerrang! "I nearly became a plumber!"
...I inform Vedder that a number of people suggested that if he were so unhappy about being in a band, he should go off and become a plumber. Gossard's jaw instantly drops and he breaks into a loud laughing fit. Eddie shakes his head at his colleague and smiles.
"It's something I definitely thought about," Vedder insists. "I mean, I definitely started to examine that kind of possibility. But luckily - for me and for people with burst water pipes or blocked toilets everywhere - there were some options we could explore to maybe have our peace of mind and still make music."
Vedder glances at Gossard, who is now wiping tears away from his eyes. "So, do you need to go to school to be a plumber?" he asks him.
"I think so," Gossard replies. "But I'm sure there's ad-lib plumbers. You could start a new breed of plumbers - you know, the Eddie Vedder School Of Plumbing :D , that refuses to follow the conventional rules of the system. But just remember that if you're going to do it to always show your butt-crack  - that's the golden rule you can't ignore."
