Who's the douche? The guy who opened the bidding at $10, or the guy who bid it up to $693?

I dunno why it's such a big deal he paid so much. He didn't spend anybody else's money.

Were there any "official" ways to see this, besides watching it here?

Is there any chance the dvd is official in any way?

Its no big deal but we are refering to the surprise at the price paid....jeeez

It is official, not sony, but its band endorsed by all accounts: - this is what the tenc sent out

Ten Club, the newsletter.

It had this information in it:

We are inviting 50 of you to host your own Pearl Jam: Vote for Change? 2004 movie premieres cross-country on November 3rd (Election Day Eve). Rick and Coan will press a limited run of DVDs, along with other treats, for a special goodie package to send your way.

Here's how to enter:
1) Tell us where you would host the party (your home, a theater, a local hangout, etc)., how many people would attend/how you would invite them and any other tidbits that make your party locale the winning ticket.
2) Please limit your entries to 250 words, and submit them via email along with your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and a jpeg photo of the proposed premiere space to contest@tenclub.net. Please use "VFC FILM CONTEST ENTRY" as your subject line.
3) Submissions must be received by Tuesday, October 28th at 5pm PDT.
4) Winners will be judged, selected and notified by Wednesday, October 29th.

Rules: Must be 18 years old to enter. Must be a resident of United States. Odds of winning based on number of entries. Entries will be judged by Ten Club staff and winners will be notified by email. Winners will have 24 hours to respond before another winner is selected

that is a ridiculous amount of $$$ - I don't know if the 10c stipulated it shouldn't be resold, but I hope they will take a close look at this member in future when it comes to contests and promotions etc. If he didn't want it anymore, it would have been a lovely gesture to see it offered up here for trade. Maybe I take this whole "community" thing more seriously than other members, but this just seems wrong

I don't think it's any more ridiculous than somebody buying a poster for more than $100.

If it's official, it will be worth much more than that what that buyer paid for it in 10 years.

A few more are sure to pop up, now that a precedent has been set.

wowzers!

i'lll have to be SURE to let my nephews know just how MUCH my various collections are worth so when i am gone....they don't just toss em out but put em up on ebay and make some cash! :P seriously...i'd not have imagined they'd garner THAT much, especially now. perhaps in the future b/c they ARE so limited, and yes, the packaging is hand-crafted.....a true labor of love.

bottomline, gotta have a buyer for something to sell, at ANY cost. so it is what it is. pearl jam items, tiffany lamps, picasso's art, baeball cards, beanie babies....whatever...there ALWAYS is an aftermarket, things sold for far more. couldn't care less. i will only pay what i am willing to pay for any item, and if it's outside what i am willing to part with, then i don't get it...simple as. guess i should file away that DVD someplace safe....yikes! ;)
Stay with me...
Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
