that's so fucking stupid!! why did they have to go and fuck with it? Beth was the love of his life at the time..so what they aren't together anymore..the Ten reissue is all about what once was..NOT what now IS!!

Piss off!!! Imagine what it feels like having people make posts on a message board about your love life (past or present). If Ed or anyone else from PJ felt that it should be removed, they don't owe you or anyone else any explanation. Gimme Gimme Gimme!!!

    I agree.

In the 25th anniversary of Unplugged they're gonna insert CGI ewoks and JarJarBinks into the video.

Editing the words and music is a silly, silly thing. They should have disclosed "plus an altered, incomplete version of Unplugged".

Lets say that the remixed and remastered Ten had an altered version of Release, with the lyrics no longer referring to anything to do with his father, wouldn't you feel that should be disclosed before you buy it?

    Ed's personal life = private

Pearl Jam's music as performed live on tv, and sold as such = public

I heard it was going to be on the Special Edition 2-Disc Blue Ray Directors Cut.
They digitally cut out Dave Abbruzzese's face and replaced it with Matt Cameron's... sort of the same way they swapped out the ghost of Anakin Skywalker at the end of 'Return of The Jedi'.

Yeah, that must be the master plan. Makes complete sense, too - they're always gouging us fans for every cent they can get.

Or you could connect the dots - RITFW not included on Drop in the Park and Unplugged + Sonic Reducer not included on Drop in the Park = All cover songs cut from the box set - hey, maybe they only wanted their music on a set commemorating their 18 year old debut album?

I'm fine with them leaving off RITFW on Unplugged, but just have a couple of questions.

    1. RITFW is on Touring Band and, I think Immagine so why could they get the rights for those but not Unplugged?

    2. I'm fine with them editing out the Beth banter if Ed feels weird about it now. But why edit out all the other banter?

    3. The thing I really don't understand is why change the running order?

I'm not mad at any of this, it just interests me how the music business works. I do think people that are mad have a point though.

Agree 100%. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the SUPER DELUXE. But "Unplugged" being: a) out of order, b) incomplete with missing banter and missing "RITFW" c) edited so an ex-wife isn't mentioned... well, that is just lame.

This is an interesting debate. If Ed doesn't want his personal life aired, then why does he say her name? Not only on "Unplugged", but he did it during "Not For You" on SNL a couple years later. I agree, some people pry to far into personal lives of artists/celebrities they admire. But if you're going to release the damn thing, release it! If you thought you were purchasing a copy of Michelangelo's Statue of David, wouldn't you be pissed if he had an 18-inch wang instead of the original normal-sized one? :D

I agree with this. The only problem is your analogy is backwards. We should have gotten the 18-inch wang and instead got the normal sized one. Out of order.

I love complaining as much as the next guy, but the set was to include the previously unreleased performance on MTV Unplugged - which is what you got. A DVD of the broadcast of MTV Unplugged. To the best of my knowledge, no other MTV Unplugged release contains the raw cut of the show. Why were we expecting different. Any more would have been nice, but this doesn't surprise me.

That said though... take away that we no longer have the timer-bar at the bottom and its less than what has been circulating for years. I mean, we lost RITFW and then got edits galore as far as chatter and then with Oceans. Personally I think its kind of lame to edit Oceans, but had it had RITFW I would have no complaints.

Good point re: the edits. That should have been disclosed. There is a lot of filmed material they could have used - maybe they should have chosen something that EV wouldn't have asked to be edited or censored...I guess they wanted to keep things era specific, but how many of us would purchase HQ raw footage of the Clinch Italy shows.
