Never understood why this bothers people so much. I thought Creed's My Own Prison was a decent release. To me it doesn't even sound that much like Pearl Jam. Just sort of a similar genre. Their subsequent releases were hardly worth releasing, with Stapp going over the top in so many songs. Mark Tremonti seems like a good guitar player though.
STP's Plush was one of my favourite albums growing up, not far behind the first Pearl Jam albums. But STP never released a Vitalogy or No Code.

Tremonti is a freak guitarist. He tries to keep it harnessed it, but he still gets too ridiculous for my taste.
Core is the album.
I think STP gets a bad rap. I've been listening to Shangriladida and it's a damn fine album. I think STP went as far musically as PJ did, though not quite as often and I don't think they made an album as "bad" as Riot Act.
Would like to point out. Dean Deleo is an awesome guitar player. I like to think of him as a modern day Jimmy Page, with the alternate tunings and different techniques he employs. After seein them in concert, I had to go home and relearn all their songs with the correct crazy chords.
i wanted to study abroad but i wanted to go somewhere that spoke english. i figured england was a shorter plane ride than australia so i can go to england any time i wanted to later on in life and if i wanted to go to australia i'd have to go now. and i picked sydney because i'd get to do more stuff since it's a city and i thought it'd be the closest thing to ny to make me feel at ease
I guess Creed sounds the most like them. Although, I don't think they really sound all that much like PJ as a band. Same for STP. To be fair, I think the song Plush was written before ten even came out, believe it was on STP's first demo when they were still called mightly joe young in 1990-ish.

i dont believe STP sounds anything like pearl jam. they sound like a totally different band. and i really don't get how plus sounds like anything pearl jam ever did. and, being completely honest, i think weiland has a better voice than ed. if we're talkin which voice gives me more chills, definitely ed, but which voice has more range? that goes to weiland. i dont even think those two bands come close to sounding like the other. i may be wrong though, i'm still a newbie compared to all you other 30+ year olds

yeah I saw STP on their reunion tour and they sounded fantastic. Both Ed's and Scott's voices have changed, or mostly their style and delivery. Sometimes I wish Ed would just go back to the baritone patented Ten voice. Oh well, he's been singing in the higher vibrato-y register for a long while now so I'm used to it, still sounds great to me

there was a band called Nixon (or Dixon?) many many years ago that sounded exactly like pearl jam. so much so that i remember hearing one of their songs on the radio and thinking it was a new pearl jam song (and a rather shitty one at that).
Is this the song and band you're thinking of? I have no idea why I remember this either, haha
