Which band do you consider the biggest rip off of Pearl Jam?

Examples would be lead singers trying to sound like Eddie
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

I think Staind is the only band that fanatically admits to liking the band but the lead singer doesn't sound that much like Eddie.

But there's a bunch of other wannabes that hardly ever admits to their liking.

Creed, by and far. Their lame singer even said he likes Pearl Jam. My old band's guitarist said he didn't like Pearl Jam because they're the reason that Creed and Scott Stapp are in existence. I laughed, then got confused...

I think the singer of Crash Test Dummies or whatever that band is called tries to sound like Eddie the most.

ditto (not the old band's guitarist part ... because i don't have an old band's guitarist ... or an old band for that matter)

like a few others have said i'd say Creed
I guess the lead singer mostly, he tries to sound like Ed but fails and then he gives Grunge a bad reputation.

Not only the singin in Creed.............. Just about every guitar riff, from the stuff on the radio at least, sounds kinda like Stone's part in Given To Fly.

eddie sounded like other singers you know... the thing is... the post grunge era ripped off every instrument, not just vocals IMO

I don't know, I think Silverchair sort of has a PJ sound to it, definitely Australia’s version of grunge. I like them, I like a lot of the early 90’s music. i.e. Alice in Chains, STP, Screaming Trees, Sound Garden and I really like Hum. :geek:

there was a band called Nixon (or Dixon?) many many years ago that sounded exactly like pearl jam. so much so that i remember hearing one of their songs on the radio and thinking it was a new pearl jam song (and a rather shitty one at that).

I echo that, Creed tried to rip em off and didnt do a very good job of it. They are known to be the biggest rip-off band of PJ of all time and they couldnt stand the test of time like PJ have.

That's the strangest thing i've ever heard. Brad Roberts sounds nothing like Ed, in my opinion. In fact, i don't think he could sound like anyone but himself even if he tried.

That ass-face lead singer from Nickelback.
    Worst band ever.

A large number of bands that hit the radio in the mid 90s had a lot of Ed-wanna-be-sounding lead singers.

All Pearl Jam cover bands. Instead of spending so much time coping PJ, why don't they go make new music. New music is the greatest result of inspiration, not making money off of the band... Personally, I see it kinda like piracy. Not to mention, Cover bands are a huge cock tease, not as satisfying as the real thing. :P

STP's "Plush" always sounded exactly like PJ to me. And I'm sure it got pushed out there to cash in on PJ's success.

maybe cause they tried to make it in the music business and didnt and grew up and decided to play for fun on the weekends. its not a cock tease at all. i've had more fun at pj cover band concerts then the actual pj concerts. least i dont have to deal with drunken assholes before, during and after the pj cover band concerts
