Yeah, on the 98 tour it was first come, first serve- the faster you MAILED your money order in, the better the seats were- 3rd row.... it feels like it was just yesterday

That was exactly my point. If the 10C decide to overlook him missing it by a day then that is their choice. But I don't see why they should. He had a 90 DAY grace period and didn't renew in that time. He didn't miss it by one day, he missed it by 91 days.

  • if only they had a grace period to the grace period...i dunno, maybe they have the grace period of 90 days and then a "let it slide" period of like a week maybe tops?...i mean the "let it slide" period wouldn't be an officially announced thing...it would be kind of like a standard within the people who handle the re-newals...it's 90 days and then they're like, "but we'll give you an extra week we feel bad for you".

or maybe they can have you keep your # but take away your seniority just for that year, and if you re-new on time next year, you get your seniority back, i mean i guess that may be more work in trying to keep track of who has and who doesn't have seniority, but it definitely can work...it wouldn't only be an incentive to not re-new late, but also act as a way of sticking to their policy, but throwing them a bone cause they have been a member for some time before the mishap of re-newing late.

I was always 3 or 3 years in advance until recently. If the Canadian dollar ever hits par again, I will probably re-up for 10 years :D

To be honest back in 2003 or 2004 I had a lapse scare (low on cash for too long due to college)... I didn't lose my number but now that I have a job and shit I don't chance it... I don't even chance having the feeling of losing my number... and it's not even that great 264xxx

That's a good strategy. I know the expiry date of my 10C membership by heart and won't even let it get within 90 days of that date ... I don't get how people can let it go 90 days the other way. But it would suck to lose your number. Mine is probably somewhere near the OP's old number (178XXX). Not great, but still good. And I want to keep it :)

That's weird. Maybe it's changed but I went three years without renewing mine and i got my same number back. 10c staff told me there was a 5 year grace period... but this was four years ago.
    Writing checks that others pay.....

  • so how exactly do you re-new for more than one year? do you just buy multiple memberships and they just tack on the time? if you re-new before the year is up you keep your original deadline? so say if you originally got your membership around x-mas time and you renewed the following thanksgiving, you pretty much get an extra year and a month? finishing out the original year and then the re-new goes in effect?

When you add to cart input the quantity. I think im paid through 2014 or so. 20 bucks a pop, might as well buy 5 at a time... and yes it goes towards your original date, so you would get 1 year and 1 month in that senario.

I think it's ridiculous to be honest.. Why doesn't 10c just give him/her the old number and seniorty back it's a joke. If someone renews a few days or even a couple of weeks after the cut off who cares!

I think it's ridiculous to be honest.. Why doesn't 10c just give him/her the old number and seniorty back it's a joke. If someone renews a few days or even a couple of weeks after the cut off who cares!

I think with the ease of scalping tickets nowadays on craigslist, etc, that I don't mind if they are tighter in recent years. There's still 3 months of safety built into their system. I think if there was not a tour eminent that they may have quietly let it slide.

i too find it rediculous...but there are some people out there who care...i don't, but to address their feelings, and for the sake of making everyone happy, i think my plan where they keep the # but lose the seniority for that term is something that can realistically be done. I mean it's maybe like 1 tour, perhaps even half a tour (if his re-newal the following year occurs during a tour prior to the presale of the latter shows of the tour) where the guy has to sit a little farther back. and if he re-news on time the following year, he has his original seniority status back...

Good idea but that may be too complicated for the 10c to keep up with...
  • so does this whole seniority thing mean i'll never get tickets with a 423xxx ??? sorry to ask a silly question - i'm just new to this whole membership number culture. :)

Some of you are way harsh...

Life happens, things happen and right now people are incredibly stressed, losing jobs, holding onto jobs without security, trying to figure out their bills etc... (I could go on and on) If it was you would you say to yourself "oh well, I had 90 days, my mistake that I tried on day 91. After 10 years I should lose my senority because I missed the grace period by a day--) Try and put yourself in the OP's shoes or are some of you to busy walking on air?

Every member has the same chance to buy tickets. Your member number just determines where your tickets will be if you do get them. When they put tickets for sale on their website, typically their site crashes and then the tickets say "out of stock" for hours, and those that keep refreshing for a few hours may be lucky enough to actually see them "in stock". When you click "checkout", you then proceed to fill in your credit card info. Once you fill that in, you click "buy", and their site accidentally logs you out, and you lose your tickets and they sell to someone else, and then it'll say "sold out". So... either way, your member number doesn't end up mattering in the luck of the draw. :)

Good to know - Thanks for the crash course - Now I know what I have to look forward to :) Sounds just as frustrating as screaming at the Ticketmaster website
