like I've said before, he has earned the right to do what he wants. I appreciate the fact that he doesnt care what his fans want from him in terms of new music. if he is happy with it, that is what matters at this point in his career. no one is holding a gun to my head making me listen to it. rather than waste my time complaining, I can just go listen to what I enjoy.
Of course he can do what he wants, though I don't think he has 'earned a right' to do so - that is just weird. One can do what one wants anytime, just be prepared to reap what you sow.

I love the small shows.I went to the "Odeon" (holds about 1,000 in Cleveland) with his 1st solo record.
Went to the Audioslave show at the "Agora" (shithole -- but small).
Twice on his last record. Detroit (Fillmore). Cleveland (House of Blues).
And I have a ticket for April 13th (House of Blues).
I hate rap. I hate Timbaland or whatever his name is. But, I support Chris Cornell.
I love standing in front of him and listening to that man sing. He is amazing.
Sometimes (I know it sounds sick) but I'm glad he split from the "big" bands because I walk right up and I'm still in awe.

I bought it because it was only $3 even though I thought it was gonna be shit. I swear that I gave it an honest shot because I like a like more genres than just hard rock and the best I could do was not hate 2 or 3 songs. This comes off not as trying something new, but a serious need to be radio friendly and be popular to a new generation. He has a twitter account now? Come on. after one listen, the song that sticks out the most for is Scream. the second half of the album is really good. and the hidden track, Two Drink Minimum, sounds like Euphoria Morning stuff.
