I work for 107.1 the Peak ( new yorks backyard ).. great radio station, non-comercial, world class rock.

is that based out of peekskill? If it comes in well in Eastern Queens, I'll check it out.

101.9 has been playing better tunes, but their disc jockey are awful and painful to listen to.

i'll miss O&A, they make my commute less painful than it is. and jimmy norton, funny dude.

shit! 106.3 changed to top 40?! that was my favorite station back in the day in jersey! oh man the days of the friday night frenzy are long gone :( i'd always look foward to listening to it when ever i went home to toms river.
krock. eh. even when they were a rock station it was the same old crap all the time, no big loss, but it sucks not to have a major rock station in new york, makes no sense at all.

    101.9 is better anyway
yea but you can barely get it out here in the burbs of long island. i live in holbrook and sometimes it fades in and out and other towns i pass through it fades in and out. then again rock music these days sucks as does krock so it dont matter to me. i'll listen to q104.3 or 103.9 wrcn or 102.3 wbab.

    i live in holbrook too!

remember when Q104.3 was a hard rock format? It was the best station ever. And when they swiched (when? maybe late 90s?) we needed another "classic rock" station as much as we need another top 40 station now.

    radio sucks.

where in holbrook do you live. i'm by the common. yup i do remember that, i hated when q made the switch. also a very good station in ct is 99.1 wplr. its another classic station but it plays more of the deeper tracks from artist. 101.9 wxrp in ny can do good if it plays the deeper tracks from artist and local music and doesnt go to top 40 rock. i remember on krock there was a show called local licks on sundays. it got me into a ton of local music.

WXRK To Go Top 40 On Wednesday At 5p
    How 'Now' NYC?
For the first time in nearly 30 years, New York now has a choice for hit music.
It's official! CBS will flip Rocker WXRK to Top 40 on WEDNESDAY at 5p as 92.3 NOW-FM. KANYE WEST, BEYONCE, PINK, FLO-RIDA, AKON, KATY PERRY, and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE will be among the core artists featured on 92.3 NOW FM when it debuts on-air, online (www.923now.com), and on a variety of mobile devices.

"For the first time in nearly 30 years, NEW YORK now has a choice for hit music," said CBS RADIO VP/Contemporarly Hit Radio DOM THEODORE who will direct the programming. "With 92.3 NOW FM, we’re breaking the mold of the traditional radio station and creating a pure multi-media companion for today’s music fans."

CBS RADIO/NEW YORK SVP/Market Mgr. DON BOULOUKOS, added, "Our assets in the country's No. 1 market include among them the best known brands in the business. From the most listened to news and sports stations in the country, to the classic sounds of WCBS-FM and the adult contemporary styling of FRESH 102.7, CBS RADIO offers something for everyone in the market ... including young adults who are using the radio to discover today’s most popular music as featured on 92.3 NOW FM."

The press release goes on to says that "92.3 NOW will also be a digital and mobile destination where audience members and fans alike can stay socially connected through a variety of applications, interactive features and networking opportunities.

"The NEW YORK centric 92.3 NOW FM website will be home to extensive entertainment news and artist coverage, including audio and video blogs created by the station’s network of bloggers -- outside contributors from the area; music videos; fan forums and access to exclusive programs and events. Audience members can also follow what’s happening at 92.3 NOW FM via MYSPACE, FACEBOOK and TWITTER, as well as interact with the station through text messaging, concerts and live events."

This move displaces the entire WXRK staff. Just moments before this announcement, ALL ACCESS has been monitoring CBS Rocker WXRK/NEW YORK morning duo OPIE of OPIE & ANTHONY's TWITTER page and it just flashed:

"It's official KROCK has just informed us that our services are no longer needed. #2 M18-49,#3 M25-54. This is really bad for our show, PERIOD!"

Even more details ... coming soon!

how much is XM per month? radio sucks as is, but not listening to O&A while sitting in traffic every AM trying to get to work is probably going to push me over the edge to pick it up.

12.99 or 16.99 if you want the best of Sirius.

as fas i know. Is he going to do mornings? I thought after Howard left they should've given him the morning slot. I'm gonna miss Danni. Maybe they'll move her to another station.

I'm guessing the problem is that new alternative rock music isn't very good anymore, and modern rock stations have had to rely on playing the same old hits from the 90's. whenever I turn on one of those stations in Boston, it seems like Bush is a new band.

The same thing has been happening across the country at an alarming rate!

Adam Carolla had an amazing rant about this very phenomenon prior to himself being cancelled for top 40 programming.

There was a time where people could turn to satellite radio for an alternative to the BS we were fed over the FM radio waves. Even that is all but done...

My god, if the music industry couldn't go in a worse direction...

i havent been around that part of holbrook hardly ever. i'm in the woodgate village complex so i could practically crawl home from butcher boys if i wanted to. i've never been in there so i wouldn't know.

Well "Brother" was #1 on their playlist before it switched. I didn't hear it. But wrxp 101.9 had the dj's of Krock in the morning to say good-bye. Then later in the afternoon they let one of the krock dj's Nick Carter do a guest dj spot. I thought that was nice.
